«¡Sálvanos, Señor, nos hundimos!» Esta frase ha sido motivo de análisis desde tiempos inmemoriales, unos dicen que los discípulos de Jesús, asustados por la tormentan, desconfiaron, aún teniendo a Jesús con ellos dentro de la barca, pensaron que iban a morir ahogados; otros dicen que los discípulos al ver que la tormenta superaba las maniobras que ellos hacían para estabilizar la embarcación, siendo que en su mayoría eran marineros experimentados, decidieron despertar al Maestro para que los ayudara a controlar la situación, en este caso confiaron en Jesús, «¡Sálvanos, Señor, nos hundimos!»

Sea un caso o el otro lo importante es confiar en el Hijo de Dios. Quien permanece en Cristo confía plenamente en Él y se aferra a su amor. Jesús de Nazaret es el Salvador del mundo, Él calma nuestra tempestad interior, esa fuerza interna que perturba nuestra paz emocional y desestabiliza nuestro espíritu. Los cristianos sabemos que Jesucristo, el unigénito de Dios, tiene poder sobre todo lo creado, en este caso, el de controlar las fuerzas de la naturaleza, las fuerzas del mal y las fuerzas que intentan hacernos perder la fe.

«Save us, Lord, we are sinking!» This phrase has been the subject of analysis since time immemorial, some say that the disciples of Jesus, frightened by the storm, distrusted, even having Jesus with them inside the boat they thought they were going to drown; Others say that the disciples, seeing that the storm exceeded the maneuvers they were doing to stabilize the boat, being that they were mostly experienced sailors, decided to wake up the Master to help them control the situation, in this case they trusted in Jesus, "Save us, Lord, we are sinking!"

Be it one case or the other, the important thing is to trust in the Son of God. Whoever remains in Christ fully trusts in him and clings to his love. Jesus of Nazareth is the Savior of the world, He calms our inner storm, that internal force that disturbs our emotional peace and destabilizes our spirit. We Christians know that Jesus Christ, the only begotten of God, has power over everything created, in this case, to control the forces of nature, the forces of evil and the forces that try to make us lose faith.

[ESP] Lectura del santo evangelio según san Mateo 8, 23-27

En aquel tiempo, Jesús subió a una barca junto con sus discípulos. De pronto se levantó en el mar una tempestad tan fuerte, que las olas cubrían la barca; pero él estaba dormido. Los discípulos lo despertaron, diciéndole: “Señor, ¡sálvanos, que perecemos!”

Él les respondió: “¿Por qué tienen miedo, hombres de poca fe?” Entonces se levantó, dio una orden terminante a los vientos y al mar, y sobrevino una gran calma. Y aquellos hombres, maravillados, decían: “¿Quién es éste, a quien hasta los vientos y el mar obedecen?”.

[ENG] Reading of the holy gospel according to Saint Matthew 8, 23-27

At that time, Jesus got into a boat with his disciples. Suddenly a storm arose in the sea so strong that the waves covered the boat; but he was asleep. The disciples woke him up, saying: "Lord, save us, we perish!"

He answered them: “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Then he got up, gave a final order to the winds and the sea, and a great calm ensued. And those men, amazed, said: “Who is this, whom even the winds and the sea obey?”.
