The year 2020 was a rather complicated year, I think that leaving my native country was not as difficult as seeing the news on national TV that we would enter quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Being in a country as a foreigner, paying rent, service and the expenses involved in good food, it is not for less feel FEAR, bewilderment, and an accumulation of feelings that now may be difficult to explain.

Before April of the mentioned year, I had my job and additionally I was earning extra as a delivery man, yes, the bicycle is again the protagonist. Earning money pedaling in the streets of the north of the city was quite satisfying, without schedules, boss or major complications.

The hardest news, after the entry of the pandemic, was the cessation of working days in the company where I worked, a lump in my throat and thousands of things went through my mind. Working at home and generating income would be the most convenient, but it was over.

Then I quickly made the decision to go out the next morning on my bicycle, to make home deliveries, with a lot of fear because I was going to face a routine of extra care to avoid catching the virus, which would be tragic, both for me and for my family.

That morning I prayed a lot for my health and my family, and I went out with a mask, gloves and all the necessary clothing to work, with the best disposition.

Cycling in a lonely, silent city was an atypical situation no matter the day of the year or the hour, it might seem like a privilege at that moment, but something was missing. The long routes were very fast, many traffic lights only served as a warning signal. The most dangerous things in the city were almost non-existent, the buses, and the cabs were not in the way.

In spite of all the circumstances, I was enjoying something, I could breathe cleaner air, free of sonic pollution, the birds seemed to multiply in the city and the squirrels were just another pet. During those 3 months I got to know the city in a different way, more peaceful, green, comfortable, safe, as anyone would like to live it. It also allowed me to observe landscapes that often go unnoticed.

The bicycle saved me from living a complicated situation and gave me a timely economic income that gave me a solution to many needs in my home. For this and many other things, the bicycle is a way of life.

Thank you very much for reading, a hug for everyone, I hope you enjoyed it.
