Hello hivers, how are you today?
My friends and I have just had a trip to discover another interesting destination in Mang Den, which is the wooden statue garden located in Mang Den eco-tourism area, Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province.
According to vncgarden, the wooden statue garden was built in 2013, after the event of the folk wooden statue carving festival (from March 5 to March 18, 2013). It was the first time the festival was held in Kon Plong district during the week of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province, celebrating the province's 100th anniversary (February 9, 1913-February 19, 2013). The statue garden is located on a hill of more than 1 hectare of primeval forest, in addition to the small paved paths, the statue garden is almost nothing designed except for the display positions of 100 wooden statues by 33 artisans who are from different ethnic minorities. The wooden statues on display here show the diversity and richness of the working life and daily activities of ethnic minorities in the North Central Highlands, such as the statue of a man holding an ax, carrying a machete, smoking a cigarette, hunting, of a woman pounding rice, weaving, carrying children, of family members going to the fields, of people playing musical instruments, drinking can wine... Along with human statues, statues of animals close to people like birds, dogs, cats, pigs, monkeys, snakes, elephants...were are also crafted and displayed, contributing to enriching the precious wooden statues of the residents of the North Central Highlands.
Located under the primeval trees, the wooden statue garden is definitely a destination not to be missed for visitors when coming to Mang Den. Actually, I have understood more about the life and culture of the ethnic minorities here (about more than 20 ethnic minorities) through these wooden statues. Carving wooden statues is one of the beauties of folk art of the ethnic minorities here. Instead of drawing or writing, they chose to make statues to capture images of everyday life. Below each statue, there is a piece of information that shows who sculpted the statue and what its theme is.
As someone who loves learning about history and folklore, I had a very enjoyable time there, and I think so did my friends. Over time, the statues have been covered with green moss, making them even more mysterious under the foliage of the primeval forest. However, that has attracted more visitors to this statue garden besides breathing fresh and admiring the beauty of nature. We had a very good time there and I believe you will too if you get the chance to go there. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and have a nice day.
