II know it is a bit late to greet this, but better late than never. Merry Christmas to all Hive fambam, and of course Happy New Year (coming soon).
I had not been able to blog these few days because of packed schedule due to school holiday and also my youngest son is not feeling well. I hope I can slowly get back on track. So let's start with this one — we had great Christmas Eve's dinner at church with awesome people.
Christmas Eve Dinner
My husband had been busy weeks before that to scout out awesome food for this purpose. Finally, we were able to finalise the spread of food we wanted to get for church Christmas Eve dinner.
Food we ordered
We ordered 5 whole roasted chicken which came with baked eggplant, baked baby potatoes, vegetable lasagna, buttered vegetables of brocoli, cauliflower and carrot. Besides the chicken, we also ordered roasted crispy pork, BBQ pork belly, sourdough pizzas of 4 types (cheese, margherita, beef pepperoni and chicken pepperoni). For desserts, we had barley with gingko soup and bread pudding. My husband was concerned the food would not be enough, so he bought another 5 roasted chicken from a local shop called Baker's Cottage. When it comes to food, my husband's standard is always "It is better to have wayyyyyy moreeee than enough than not enough and people dare not take a lot". He loves to see people feast. Bless his generous soul (the one of the many good qualities in him which made me fell deeply in love with lol).
Eating and Edification
We started the evening at 6:30pm with an opening prayer of thanksgiving and then without further ado, we feasted. It was a nice atmosphere when people young and old came together for eating, with merry heart and grateful hearts. We managed to arrange the tables in a super long manner where everyone could sit down and the food at the centre. Kind of looked like The Last Supper. Haha. But for us, it was not the last. It was nice to have people automatically took the knife to cut the chicken and serve people. All the food was sooooo yummy. And guess what, there were some leftover for people to pack back to bring home too.
The children were happily eating and then ended running around with friends, playing happily, receiving their gifts with joy. Adults got to sit down and enjoy the food over some meaningful chitchat.
We also had some time of encouragement and edification and sharing of goodness of God and prayers released via the microphones. The main purpose of this dinner event was also to close ranks, strengthen the bonds, and encourage everyone to be strong together for the year ahead. We are going to need His supernatural courage and guidance as we weather what may be the toughest time in recent human history, yes, even including the past few years of the pandemic.
We are so blessed to have people who deliberately put on love and lay down our lives for one another. That is what spiritual family is. We are many but one. It was a great time together, a slow dinner with people whom we love dearly, whom we will do life together, whom we will grow old together, we see each others' good and bad, yet we continue to love, uplift and grow and progress. Looking forward to a greater year 2023. Be blessed.
