Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was born in New York City, New York, US in 1884-October-11. She died on 1962-November-7, also in New York City.
She was niece to Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States. She is better known as wife and First Lady to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 32nd President of the United States.
After FDRs death in 1945, less than one year into his unprecedented 4th term as president, Eleanor Roosevelt was appointed as a delegate to the United Nations by Harry Truman, 33rd President of the United States. At the UN she served the chair of the Commission on Human Rights from 1946 to 1951. During this period she played a major role in the drafting and the adoption in 1948 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
