We called them by the name of Hanuman. These black faced mo key are considered to be the ancient of the Great Hanuman. However if we go by the biological name these are known as Grey Langoors. They have Black face and long tail. They are considered to be human friendly unless and untill you not going to disturb them. One interesting thing about these is that the small Asian monkey are afraid of them.
It happened long ago, that our gated residential society were reeling under monkey menace. Everyday there were new bites stories or house I truder stories from.them. one day, someone suggested us to bring a langoor, and see the difference. We asked a monkey man to bring a langoor and paid them. What happened was pure magic. Since then no monkey every wanders in our society. It is believed that the small monkey ran away by mere body odour of these black langoor. This shows how wildlife has so many mystery to tell. Anyhow in my sister's native village, these langoors were very common.
They keep coming now and then in herds , play with each other, live on the tree and and then move away. But so far nobody ever harm anyone, except in few cases where the humans try to scare them. The life if these were very interesting. Many people try to worship these and often feed them with banana, as it used to be their favourite food. I snapped these langoors on one of my visit to her village using a DSLR Also it was my first hand experince on it. I enjoyed clicking them and made a good collection.
