Like all meetups, this year's Hive Open Days in Alicante started and finished in a flash. The weekend was intense and tiring, in a good way.

Day 1
There was a good balance of talks, and plenty of time to socialise especially with the newbies that we managed to onboard. I think there are about 10, and quite a few of them stayed with us for the entire event including the outings. Here's a few of them in the front row, with @palomap3 and @ninaeatshere talking thru things with one of them who asked to stay anonymous.

I didn't take many photos of the event, basically I forgot 😅 because I was busy talking to everyone. Here's one of @tibfox, @reiseamateur, @mipiano, @igormuba, @ph1102, and half of @bitterirony. On the other side is one of the onboardees @anamz, @palomap3, I didn't get the username of the person sitting by face forward, and finally is @schmidi's back.

It's always nice to learn more about Hive thru the presentations, but it's even better to listen to a mini concert performed by our very own. @mipiano and @alessandrawhite did a sterling performance for us.

Day 2 - Clean planet day
The next day we did a boat trip to a small island an hour away. There were 28 of us, oldies and newbies plus 2 dogs. @ninaeatshere hosted a quiz for us. We split into three groups and mine came third 🥉 🙃

After the quiz, we started the cleanup. These are two of the new onboardees @gissse and @juanmatrader. They were really into the whole activity.

I didn't do so well, but found this sock or bandage. Not sure exactly what it is, I didn't analyse it. It's shocking what people throw away in public!! I forgot to take a photo of all the trash we collected, but I'm sure it will come up in another post from someone else.

In the evening, we went to a microbrewery and had some nice craft beer. I think we earned it after a hard days work picking up a lot of trash. Here's me with @ph1102, @edje, @mipiano, @ninaeatshere and @enraizar.

Day 3
On the last day, we stayed in town and Nina did a walkabout. There was a may day festival and the locals were having a blast of a time which made our walk experience that much happier. Then we went to a modern art museum. Modern Art isn't my thing as I normally find it too abstract and can't appreciate it. But I enjoyed this, so much that we felt compelled to leave a little artwork behind.

By this time, a lot of people had left already, and those remaining went for a coffee. There was still a good crowd, me, @ninaeatshere, @sinochip , @godfish, @honeydue, @bitterirony, @alessandrawhite and @edje . In fact the crowd was still pretty large I couldn't get everyone on the same photo. Next to @edje is @nonsowrites, @enraizar, @palomap3 and @tibfox. Without him, none of this weekend would have happened. Thanks so much for organising ✌️👍💯

Goodie bag
No meetup is complete without the goodie bag. This year was orange. An unusual but very nice and sharp colour for a tote bag. We also got some sunglasses, essential for sunny Spain, a notepad, one can never have too many of them, and a Hive pen that writes very smoothly. Then there's a bunch of stickers. And finally a community bingo card. I think this is a great icebreaker activity to get people to talk to one another, and I was particularly happy to see the newbies getting involved and talking to everyone. I hope they will become active in the days to come and become regulars on Hive. I know a few of them are very keen and I hope to see them again in future meet ups.

Till next time!!!

I admire your ability to summarize everything that happened during those days in a single post, hahaha. I limited myself to writing just two posts per day, and yet I doubt I could have made them much shorter. Being able to express yourself concisely is definitely a gift—I admire it.
You’re absolutely right—it all happened so fast that I can’t believe a week has already gone by. It seems unbelievable.
Aww, I loved those photos at the brewery and café—it was one of the best spots we visited!
Setting the important stuff aside, I’m shocked to see how clearly one can see the muscle definition under the tattoo in the second photo. I’m pretty impressed—haha, it’s so funny! thanks for sharing 🤣

Now you mention it, I had to go back to check the photo 💪
Your overviews picks up so much detail and takes readers to the event even though they're not there. I'm sure they appreciate experiencing the event through your eyes
Enjoy the rest of you stay home with your family
Great recap! It was great meeting you all for a fab weekend. Thanks for welcoming the newbies 🌟🌟🌟
It was great meeting you Kate. Hope to see you on chain, and if you have any questions, feel free to ping me or Paloma.
@steevc can you please add @iamkaye to the brit list next month? She's from UK living in Spain now. Thanks
Welcome to Hive. Looks like it was a great time. I've been to a few other events and the people are great.
!BEER
You’re writing about @elsurtidor 😉
This is a great recap, and I agree with you about the newbies interest and integration with us. It’s exciting to see them asking for everything and participating in the activities like one of us.
I loved to meet you! Have fun in your next destination and a good return home. 🤗
I imagine you will be busy helping out the newbies in the coming months. If you need any support, let me know
It was great meeting you as well. Zaragoza is on our to go list now... sometime
I’ll be supporting the newbies, yes. I take your word.
You have a friend in Zaragoza. And a tourist guide for free! 😁
I'm still trying to assimilate these days... it has been very special for me to meet everyone present in person (it was my first participation in such a large Hive meeting). The photographs are a very good reflection of the very good moments lived and shared.
I hope we see each other again and, by then, I can manage minimally with English.
Thank you very much @livinguktaiwan, a very big greeting.
I'm glad you had a good weekend. There are many users in Spain now, maybe you can all organise another meetup again sometime
Or maybe my Spanish would have improved a little by then. But I have been trying since last year with little progress 😅
Yes, not only have I had a good time, but I have also met Hivers from Spain in person, whom I really wanted to see in person, but speaking with some of the new ones, I am sure they will contribute many things to Hive.
Regarding languages, I'm sure that the next time we see each other we can have a fluent conversation in English or Spanish.
Thank you very much again.
oooooh so we're learning spanish! I like that!
Those seats don't look very comfy!
They're great for stretching your legs and very comfy when you stick a couple of cushions behind and below you 😉
otherwise its splinters in the bum time!
Looks like a great crowd and some nice onboarding.
With all the amazing new Hive tech like Magi it is important to always remember that what makes Hive unique, more than any crypto techno wizardry, is community.
Absolutely true. It was great meeting everyone again, and a few of the newbies got on very well with everyone, we avoided dumping too much blockchain and tech talk on them, didn't want to scare them away
It was a great event and a bit different than previous ones, at least for me... I suppose I spent a bit more energy on some "host duties", which cost me some time to recover on the last 2 days... I'm sorry I didn't attend the Clean Planet walk and excursion, which is a great activity with so much fun!
You did a great presentation on communities, and thank you once again for the shoutout! It was so nice of you! 🌹
See you at the next event!! 🥂
I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project! Check out our Reading Suggestions Posts!
Please consider voting for our Liotes HIVE Witness. Thank you!
Thanks so much for co hosting this, and taking us around, on top your own real life commitments. I can imagine how tiring it must have been.
I hope you're recovering from everything now. Take care!!!
Wow! What an incredible event. Glad the numbers was high and just looking at the photos it seemed like such a fun time.
I think we all had a good time, some of us have met so many times already, we just click
Looks like it was a really good time for everyone that showed up!
We had a good turnout, I reckon around 25 plus newbies.
You're giving me FOMO, but great to see everyone together again with some new people joining too. We need more events with newbies.
It was great fun especially since I didn't make it to HF last year and is unlikely to make it this year either.
It would be great if we can do something in UK this year
It was one hell of a party :) see you next time!
I see you guys continued on Sunday 😉
We did! :)
😍 No tengo mucho qué decir... sólo que me encanta cuando ocurren estas cosas.
Espero que algún día podamos encontrarnos en una reunión de Hive.
Was really nice to see you in Alicante. Was an amzing day. My Blogpost comes this days ...
Look forward to your post, I hope you have a good journey wherever you decided to go next
Nice meeting you, and everyone else. We had some fun days indeed.
It was great meeting you again, and Susie for the first time. Actually, is it Susie? I just assumed it was
Caroline Susan. Yeah.
Looks like a great time! So pity we couldn't make it this year!
I'm sorry we missed you, I was looking forward to seeing you and your little ones again
Looks like you had a lovely time. I would have been there… anyway there’s always other times!
I'm sorry you couldn't make it. HF is in Barcelona in September, hopefully the job front will have settled by then and perhaps you can go
I’ve got a new job! All happened last week!
Congrats!!! That's fantastic news. I'm so glad for you
It came just at the right time, we are getting more and more concerned as the market is not great for people in my line of work. Our industry becoming a victim of AI.
I really hate AI, they're only good to help me plan my travel itineraries, other than that, I hate them!!!!
What matters, is that you're back on track now, let's hope it stays that way
Me too. I’ll keep a journal over the coming weeks
Frankly, I loved rhe goodie bag more this year! Loved the sunglasses. It was soooo fun seeing you again, and I loved reading through your recap (just landed home myself). Hugs 💛 see you again soon
The goodie bags are always the highlight after the people. I got a whole stack of Hive merch at home now that I keep.
I'm sorry that I won't be able to see you guys in Barcelona, have a great time there!
So fun. Nice that you can have meet ups so often and to hear @mipiano play in person- what a treat.
These mini meetups are great to get to know people better Sara, I wished you could have joined us
So many cool moments! I bet that performance was magical! ❤️
It was lovely to have a nice concert performed by our very own, I hope one day you can join us as well Gabby.
Thank you...🙏🏼 💓
Just wow!
One thing is clear now Hive isn't just a post to earn or write to earn platform, it is something big, in fact it is bigger than my thoughts. Thanks for sharing these wonderful memories.
!PIZZA
The focus on Hive should never be about earnings, that's where people fail
That is what I have learned during last year while being out of Hive.
I smiled reading about you forgetting to take photos because you were too busy talking with people. That means the event was truly alive.
👍
Hermoso Alicante,
Hello ma'am @livinguktaiwan, i would like to ask for your forgiveness. I know i have made mistakes and wrong decisions in the past, and i am truly sorry for that.
I am doing my best now to change and become a better person here on Hive. I hope you can give me a chance to start over and accept my apology. Thank you very much..
I am sorry I couldn't come to the Cleanplanet activity but I see that finding that something (sock or bandage) was fun haha. It is a cool photo ;)
