Hace algunos años cuando tenia poca edad y poca recepcion de lo que me miraba me aparecio esta pelicula bastante interesante, Yo no sabia de que trataba o que significaban las numerosas escenas y simplemente se quedo como un recuerdo de la infancia hasta que hace poco, despues de que muchas paginas, criticos y cercanos me bombardearan con ella, me he decidido dejar de lado todos esos titulos de que El Padrino es la pelicula mas grande del mundo y mirarla con unos ojos mas realistas, esperando ver una pelicula entretenida pero sabiendo que el tiempo quiza no la haya tratado bien.. vaya que me equivoco.
El Padrino es una de esas peliculas que todo cinefilo te recomendaria sin respirar unas 3 o 4 veces, y con razon. Fue uno de los filmes clave en su tiempo tanto para disparar todo lo que fue la nueva ola de cine norteamericano como para ayudar a los cines y teatro a recuperar un poco del terreno que le habia ganado la television a color. Una mezcla de situaciones fue el coctel perfecto para que hubiesen filas de kilometros en invierno para ver esta pelicula que quiza fue el primer boom de un cine que, al mando de nuevos e innovadores directores recuperaria su status en la cultura.
Desde el mismo comienzo el director Francis Ford Coppola nos sumerge en una historia en uno de los generos mas saturados de todo el septimo arte: el crimen y el concepto de MAFIA, pero este filme no toma el estereotipo si no que en toda la trama vemos humanizada la familia Corleone y nos meten de lleno en esta primera cinta en los confines de la familia, conocida como una de las mayores organizaciones de crimen en Nueva York y dirigida por Marlon Brando que hace de este su papel iconico despues de unos cuantos años turbios en los que ningun estudio se atrevia a contratarlo. Un Giro a la historia tradicional de pandillas junto a una estrella en descenso.. una apuesta que a la productora ciertamente le preocupo.
Cuando comence a ver esta pelicula por momentos pensaba que toda la trama iba a estar enfocada en el personaje de Marlon Brando (El Padrino) pero a medida que avanza la trama se nos revela el verdadero protagonista y mi segundo aplauso a esta pelicula: el persona de Al Pacino. Que goza de una interpretacion que no hace extrañar al original Padrino y nos pone en la piel de un integrante que descubre al mismo tiempo que nosotros todos los detalles de este submundo en el que vive.
Desde aqui ya van casi 1 hora de pelicula y en el cual los planos son identicos a los planos standarizados que tiene la industria hoy en dia, Coppola innovo mucho el trabajo on camara asi como la puesta en escena y la fotografia que realzaba la actuacion de los personajes y dotaba a la obra de un aire de epicidad, hasta aca no deja de sorprenderme tanto la fecha en la que esta obra se estreno y lo mucho que la comparo con los trabajos mas recientes de los mas grandes directores.
En si, esta pelicula tiene un aire distinto a los gansta movies que se veian en los años pasados y es que el conflicto central no lo enfocan demasiado en los enemigos de los Corleone si no que los mete en la busqueda de nuevos negocios en los que la familia pueda participar al mismo tiempo que lo mezcla con un tradicional giro de mafiosos con escenas en donde no escatiman en mostrar sangre y violencia grafica pero que si son escenas crudas sin necesidad de estilizarlas si no que mostrando de lleno y con un poco mas de exageracion como fueron los enfrentamientos entre las organizaciones en esos años
Tengo que destacar tambien los angulos en las tomas y como su director supo como innovar y hacer escenas novedosas al mismo tempo que las dota de dramatismo y significado. Es por ello que muchas de las escenas en donde hay relativa calma hay tanto un dinamismo co las tomas como con el crescendo de la musica, haciendo escenas que se verian monotonas verse como autenticas joyas de la pelicula.
Las actuaciones son un deleite incluso con el extra de que la mayoria de los actores de la pelicula estaban practicamente en el bajo radar de Hollywood y esta pelicula supuso una catapulta hacia carreras muy exitosas como la de Al Pacino, Brando es sin duda lo mejor desde comienzo hasta final su metodo de actuacion es creible y te hace entrar de lleno en la quimica de los personajes.
El Padrino es uno de esos Best Sellers que es imposible rechazar a la hora de escoger una pelicula que haya cambiado el cine. Su historia asi como la matodologia que introdujo al septimo arte la hacen valedora en un sitio en lo mas alto de las producciones cinematograficas. Su director, Francis Ford Coppola venia siendo uno de los directores mas prometedores de esos tiempos y con esta pelicula establecio su nombre en el olimpo del entretenimiento.

**Some years ago, when I was little and not very receptive to what I was looking at, I saw this very interesting film. I didn't know what it was about or what the numerous scenes meant, and it simply remained a childhood memory until recently, after many pages, I have decided to put aside all those titles that The Godfather is the biggest movie in the world and watch it with more realistic eyes, hoping to see an entertaining movie but knowing that time may not have treated it well. . what a mistake.
The Godfather is one of those movies that every filmmaker would recommend without breathing 3 or 4 times, and with good reason. It was one of the key films in its time, both to shoot everything that was the new wave of American cinema and to help cinemas and theater to recover a little of the ground that color television had gained. A mixture of situations was the perfect cocktail for the lines of kilometers in winter to see this film that was perhaps the first boom of a cinema that, at the command of new and innovative directors would recover its status in culture.
From the very beginning, director Francis Ford Coppola immerses us in a story in one of the most saturated genres of all the seventh art: crime and the concept of MAFIA, but this film does not take the stereotype but in the whole plot we see humanized the Corleone family and we get into this first film in the confines of the family, known as one of the largest crime organizations in New York and directed by Marlon Brando who makes this his iconic role after a few murky years in which no studio dared to hire him. A twist on the traditional gang story with a falling star... a gamble that the production company certainly cared about.
When I started watching this movie at times I thought the whole plot was going to be focused on the character of Marlon Brando (The Godfather) but as the plot progresses the real protagonist is revealed to us and my second applause for this movie: the person of Al Pacino. He enjoys an interpretation that does not make the original Godfather strange and puts us in the skin of a member who discovers at the same time as we do all the details of this underworld in which he lives.
From here it's been almost an hour of film and in which the shots are identical to the standardized shots that the industry has today, Coppola innovated a lot the work on camera as well as the staging and photography that enhanced the performance of the characters and gave the work an air of epic, until here I'm surprised both the date on which this work was released and how much I compare it with the most recent work of the greatest directors.
In itself, This film has a different air to the gansta movies that were seen in the past and is that the central conflict does not focus too much on the enemies of the Corleones but gets them in the search for new businesses in which the family can participate while mixing it with a traditional mafia twist with scenes where they do not scrimp on showing blood and graphic violence but that are raw scenes without the need to stylize them but showing fully and with a little more exaggeration as were the clashes between organizations in those years
I must also highlight the angles in the shots and how its director knew how to innovate and make new scenes at the same time that gives them drama and meaning. That is why many of the scenes where there is relative calm there is both a dynamism with the takes as the crescendo of the music, making scenes that would look monotonous as real jewels of the film.
The performances are a delight even with the extra that most of the actors in the film were practically on Hollywood's low radar and this film was a catapult to very successful careers like Al Pacino's. Brando is undoubtedly the best from start to finish his acting method is credible and makes you enter fully into the chemistry of the characters.
El Padrino is one of those best sellers that is impossible to reject when choosing a movie that has changed the cinema. Its history as well as the matodology that introduced the seventh art make it a winner in a place at the top of film productions.
