Maybe you will always remember potatoes or sweet potatoes when talking about types of tubers that are high in carbohydrates.

But what about yam? For me yam is an exotic type of tuber from Asia that deserves to be a staple of community food besides potatoes or sweet potatoes.

Tasty for consumption and comfortable for digestion

Yam is similar to the taste of other tubers and tends to be bland so easily combined with other side dishes for a delicious main course.

Yam is safe for digestion and naturally healthy digestive organs. Yam helps food easily absorbed by the stomach and intestines.

Yam can control excess gas in the stomach, diarrhea and stomach cramps.

So in addition to satiating, yam also helps maintain digestive health.

High in carbohydrates but able to control blood sugar levels

People in my village who suffer from diabetes are accustomed to replacing rice with yam as a diet to control blood sugar.

The nature of yam is easy to satiate so it is also good for weight loss programs.

Yam is also known for promoting high blood pressure control. That's because the potassium content in taro that can reduce pressure blood.

Good for skin and hair beauty

The good news again, yam is not only good for health but good for skin and hair beauty.

Vitamins A, E, and B6 help accelerate the repair of tissues and skin so that the skin and hair can shine more if you consume yam regularly. Skin moisture will also be maintained.

The content of antioxidants is also able to prevent premature aging.

There are many more benefits of yam for our bodies. And my family usually eat yam in the morning or at night. It can be enjoyed as a snack by just boiling.

Only boiled yam but it's rich in benefits and exotic tuber. It is truly a gem of tuber from Asia that is worth consuming if you find them.

We sometimes eat in the evening as tea time snack :) Didn't know it is good for hair or I would have eaten more often haha :D

Sometimes many foods that we are we even don’t know about natural benefit in them 🙈

I suggest that parboiled with a little butter and cheese and a piece of meat or chicken, would be the ideal lunch. But I usually eat them in soups when I feel bad.

Yam soup is sounds great! I have to make experiment first about that recipe :)

Yam is something I have yet to taste, but I hope to one day, thank for sharing the
wonderful healing properties with us all xx

I've never tried or seen yam, but if I find it I definitely will :D
I try to buy sweet potatoes when they aren't too expensive, love those

Anyway I prefer to buy sweet potatoes rather than potatoes 😊

Yeahh, but they are almost 10 times more expensive than regular potatoes in some shops D: A few shops have ok-ish price and I buy there
