Los sistemas de alto flujo nos permiten suministrar una alta concentración de oxígeno al paciente, esto permite suministrar una cantidad por encima de lo que una persona es capaz de inspirar. Se debe utilizar en casos graves donde el paciente presenta hipoxia provocada por insuficiencias respiratorias, edema agudo de pulmón, enfisema pulmonar o por neumonía.
High flow systems allow us to supply a high concentration of oxygen to the patient, this allows us to supply an amount above what a person is capable of inspiring. It should be used in severe cases where the patient has hypoxia caused by respiratory failure, acute lung edema, pulmonary emphysema or pneumonia.
El sistema de alto flujo es capaz de cubrir la demanda de aire del paciente en situaciones de insuficiencia respiratoria aguda o crónica.
The high-flow system is capable of meeting the patient's air demand in situations of acute or chronic respiratory failure.
Además de esto asegura de forma eficaz un FiO2, por lo tanto el personal médico junto al de enfermería saben cuánta concentración de oxígeno está recibiendo el paciente.
In addition to this, it effectively ensures an FiO2, therefore the medical staff together with the nursing staff know how much oxygen concentration the patient is receiving.
Dentro del sistema de alto flujo encontramos cánulas nasales de alto flujo, mascarillas de nebulización de alto flujo, tienda facial, mascarilla venturi y CPAP.
Within the high-flow system we find high-flow nasal cannulas, high-flow nebulization masks, face tent, venturi mask and CPAP.
Las más utilizada en el área clínica es la mascarilla venturi, la cual a través de sus dispositivos de adaptación permiten suministrar cierta concentración de oxígeno al paciente.

Gracias al sistema de alto flujo se logra estabilizar a un paciente con hipoxemia, así mismo se puede mantener en condiciones para favorecer su recuperación total.
