Introducing you to my husband Peter Wink, Sculptor and Artist.

Today I would like to give you a glimpse into the life and works of Peter Wink a South African Artist and Sculptor.

Peter was born in Pretoria South Africa in 1949 before moving with his parents to Durban Kwa Zulu Natal at the age of two years.
At a very young age in junior school,he was inspired by his art teacher Mr Dobbs, who encouraged him to pursue his talent as an artist, Peter sold his first painting at the age of six years old.

Most of his youth was spent observing different artists and sculptors and getting involved with workshops, as he developed his own unique style, he became very active in the local art competitions winning quite a few first prizes over the years.

In 1968 while traveling the country during his National service, observing different sculptures and art works in different City Centers, he realized that sculpture was his forte. This is when he obtained sculpture tools and began teaching himself to carve, in those days sculpture courses were not available to him . Apart from studding Fine Arts and Commercial Art part-time at Durban Technikon, he is self taught.

1973 was his first exhibition at Barclays square, also the first day of our honeymoon, quite an exhilarating start to an exciting 47 years of adventure called “Married to an Artist” well, that is a whole new story.

Now that is some unbelievable work.
The seeder wood beach lady looks as though she is floating in air, I love the way the piece has been fastened to the base!

I doubt you're proud of your husband at all. Naaaahh. I know a lot of wood workers and not everyone has art pieces worthy of a museum. Gorgeous!

Breathtaking work!! Thank you for sharing!?

Thank you @splatts for comment, much appeciated.

What great work...Sculpting isn't the easiest thing to do; I watched my dad do some when I was a kid, he was an artist, and even gave it a try...I'd be embarrassed to show my results...Nothing like Peter's fine work!

Thank you @galenkp , sculpting isn't easy at all, I have witnessed hand injuries and trips to doctors, cuts and breuses. It takes getting use too, all worth it though when you see the end result.Thank you for commenting much appreciated.

You're welcome. I like to get around the blockchain and find people I haven't seen before...So it was a pleasure you come past your post. :)
