EV Blast Problem in India

India is currently witnessing an Electric Vehicle Blast Problem and things are not looking good for EVs altogether. Over the last month, we have seen over 7 cases that were reported and in almost all of them, the destruction was hugely covered by different media houses which led to general unrest among the public for EV Bikes. Yes, I said EV Bikes because most if not all of these incidents of EVs catching fire are for the two-wheeler segment and even among them OLA Scotteres are the front runners in this Incident.

In order to lower the dependence on Fossil Fuels more and more countries are looking forward to Electric Vehicles and India is one of those countries. Companies like Hero, Bajaj, and Ola are all looking forward to Electric Motorcycles and thus are in a Race to bring out the first ones as soon as possible. Unfortunately, this Race has caused some mishaps to happen as we now see EVs bursting into flames. Now I cant say why this is happening and whether it is an external; factor or any Internal Defect but I do feel that a country with Temperatures as high as 50 Degree Celsius should have some other mechanism so that the batteries don't overheat and explode.

Yes, I feel part of the problem lies with the intense heat we have been experiencing this Summer but that doesn't give a free pass to the EV Manufacturers as they also need to make proper safety checks before launching their EVs all over the Country. As of now almost all the Electric Two Wheelers are being Rolled back and I hope the Manufacturers do rigorous tests before letting them out on the road again.
