First Time Thinking About Financial Future

in GEMS3 years ago

For the first time ever in my life, I am thinking about my financial future.
I realize that with my shitty part-time job and in the city I am living in, I am never going to attain financial freedom.
And it has got me thinking.

First of all, what is financial freedom to me?
It means being able to freely move wherever I want to go and not have to worry about my finances and not having to answer to someone aka not working for a boss who wants to know where I am and what I am doing.
It means not having to worry about money and being able to help my family and friends financially in ways that will make their life better.
It means being able to buy a plot of land and build a house on it and not have to worry about how much it’s going to cost.
It means being free.
Obviously, these things are really not going to happen in my current situation.
So time to switch that up.
I have started investing in crypto. Just small amounts to HODL.
Sometimes I get a bit frustrated with myself because if I had invested the crypto I had 4 years ago into Bitcoin or ETH, I would probably be achieving my goals now already.
But oh well, you live and you learn right?
I am looking to generate wealth, not just be rich. Things like passive income through staking.
Making small changes to have more money in the bank.
Things like making it a priority to food shop cheaply and to cook every meal.
It has become so easy to just order food but if you count at how much you are spending, it is ridiculous.
I told my father I was investing in crypto and I fully was expecting him to write it off as a scam but he literally said ‘Good. Don’t invest in the stock market or ‘normal’ shares, because it’s not going grow’.
I am also thinking about ways to create passive income as a side hustle and also business opportunities but so far, nothing has really caught my eye that I thought would be a good idea.
Ultimately, I want to be financially literate and be free.
When did you start thinking about your financial future? In what ways do you generate wealth?
Would love to read what you think and perhaps even learn a thing or two.

Over and out,

Ashley

If you missed this post of mine from a few months ago, you may wanna check it out as it’s packed full of some good tips that should help along the crypto journey to financial freedom... 😇⭐️

Rok! Thanks so so so much for sharing. I love the brutal honesty about how it all happened and the personal consequences. And it made me rethink my strategy. You are so right when you said pick a few coins and focus on them. I have been spreading myself way too thin. From now on, only well made decisions that are completely thought out. Will do a little shout out on Twitter about your post! It needs to be read more :)

There’s a point where the difference becomes sort of like that of investing vs. gambling...

Many people sorta “make bets” spreading their chances over a lot of tokens, hoping to get a winner in the bunch. Though the way I’m kinda looking at it now: wouldn’t it be better to invest the time & energy into knowledge to guide your decisions to choose a handful that you know are gonna take off?

Of course, it can be fun to support a lot of different projects if you resonate and like to support their visions. Though at least personally, my risk tolerance has gone way down and it makes more sense to ‘put my money where my mouth is’ when having done the due diligence in a smaller basket that are pretty much guaranteed to produce fantastic long-term results.

Of course, there’s also other strategies that work for different people - i.e. making a shit ton of money on novelty shit like dog coins, Safemoon, and Cumrocket - so just gotta do what works best for you... Lol 🤷‍♂️
