The feast of San Juan constitutes one of the most important manifestations of the entire central coast of Venezuela. In the town of Chuao, the mythical image of Saint John the Child stands out, material and spiritual heritage of the community, who express their devotion to the saint through of verses and siren songs loaded with symbolism and impressive vocal skills, all directly related to everyday events and situations, shaping a rhythmic dialogue between mythical imagery and material reality.
The fundamental intervention played by the traditional Caja, a redoubling drum made in Chuao, that draws attention to the difference between other celebrations made in honor of Saint John the Baptist on the country's central coast, is striking.
This town boasts to be one of the most culturally dynamic and this is evidenced by the dominance of its inhabitants over its history and the whole range of cultural expressions that develop throughout the year, with a high level of organization and largely self-managed. , through their companies grouped around the protests.
The main economic activity of the town of Chuao is agriculture, being the cultivation of Cacao the most important item, symbol of identity of this community. Also other productive activities are developed such as artisanal fishing and tourism.
Privileged with a geographical location that has the particularity of not having vehicular land access, that characteristic that seems to be a limitation, has also been in some way beneficial for the safeguarding of its cultural heritage.

La fiesta de San Juan constituye una de las manifestaciones más importante de toda la costa central de Venezuela, En el pueblo de Chuao resalta la mítica imagen de San Juan niño, patrimonio material y espiritual de la comunidad,quienes expresan su devoción al santo a través de versos y cantos de sirenas cargados de simbolismo e impresionantes destrezas vocales, todo directamente relacionado con hechos y situaciones cotidianas, dando forma a un diálogo rítmico entre el imaginario mítico y la realidad material.
Llama la atención la intervención fundamental que juega la tradicional caja, tambor redoblante hecho en Chuao que remarca diferencia entre otras celebraciones hechas en honor a San Juan Bautista en la costa central del país.
Este pueblo ostenta ser uno de los culturalmente más dinámicos y esto se evidencia en el dominio que tienen sus habitantes sobre su historia y toda la gama de expresiones culturales que se desarrollan durante el año, con un alto nivel de organización y en gran medida auto gestionadas, a través de sus sociedades agrupadas en torno a las manifestaciones.
La principal actividad económica del pueblo de Chuao es la agricultura, siendo el cultivo de Cacao el rubro más importante, símbolo de identidad esta comunidad. También otras actividades productivas son desarrolladas como la pesca artesanal y el turismo.
Privilegiados con una ubicación geográfica que tiene la particularidad de no tener acceso terrestre vehicular, esa característica que pareciera ser una limitante, también ha resultado de alguna forma beneficioso para la salvaguarda de su patrimonio cultural.

Waoo I have actually not heard of this feast but today am so honored to know of san juan and also have the previllage to read a whole lot about it thanks for given some of us the opportunity to come across this things am glad am here to read and learn more and more
San Juan is a very popular saint among the Afro-descendant families of my country, and although at first sight he is a Catholic representation, behind him a social and organizational framework of indigenous African and American roots is formed, today for these communities San Juan is a symbol of identity and pride of the Afro cultural heritage.
