A Day at Springbrook - MyPictureDay Challenge # 11

For the 11th Edition of the #mypicturedaychallenge launched by @timsaid, I´ll take you to the Springbrook Nationalpark in Queensland, Australia. As always, I had my Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II and my iPhone 8 with me.

The Nationalpark is part of the Unesco World Heritage and is divided into 4 areas. The Springbrook Plateau, the Natural Bridge, Numinbah and Mount Cougal. So far we have never been to the Natural Bridge area, which is a absolute highlight.

Für die 11. Ausgabe der #mypicturedaychallenge von @timsaid bringe ich euch in den Springbrook Nationalpark in Queensland, Australien. Wie immer hatte ich meine Olympus OM-D E-M10MarkII und mein iPhone 8 dabei.

Der Nationalpark ist Teil des Unesco-Weltkulturerbes und in 4 Bereiche unterteilt. Das Springbrook Plateau, die Natural Bridge, Numinbah und Mount Cougal. Bisher waren wir noch nie in dem Natural Bridge Gebiet, welches ein absolutes Highlight ist.

Springbrook plateau

We started the morning with a hike called Twin falls Circuit in the Springbrook plateau. On a total of 4km hike you get a lot on offer. Not just one, but 2 waterfalls, a river, breathtaking views and lots of flora and fauna.

We saw a lot in Australia and went on countless hikes, but this was something special. we rarely had so much diversity on a hike.

Relatively early on the trail you cross a small cave, followed by a forest with very unusual trees.

Wir starteten den Morgen mit einer Wanderung namens Twin Falls Circuit im Springbrook Plateau. Auf insgesamt 4km Wanderung bekommt man hier so einiges geboten. Nicht nur einer, sondern sogar 2 Wasserfälle, einen Fluss, atemberaubende Aussichten sowie jede menge Flora und Fauna.

Wir haben einiges gesehen in Australien und waren auf unzähligen Wanderung, aber diese war schon etwas besonderes. So viel Vielfalt auf einer Wanderung hatten wir selten.

Relativ früh auf dem Wanderweg durchquert man eine kleine Höhle, gefolgt von einem Wald mit sehr ungewöhnlichen Bäumen.

The first and most famous of the two waterfalls, the Twin Falls, followed shortly afterwards. Most visitors only come to see this waterfall and do not end the entire hike, which takes about 2 hours.

In summer, when the temperatures allow it, you can even swim and refresh yourself in the pool of the waterfall. But at just 14 degrees when we visited, I didn't feel like swimming. The exciting thing about this waterfall, however, is the fact that you can walk behind it.

Schon kurz darauf folgte der erste und bekannteste der beiden Wasserfälle, die Twin Falls. die meisten Besucher kommen nur um diesen Wasserfall zu sehen und beenden gar nicht die komplette Wanderung, welche ca 2 stunden in Anspruch nimmt.

Im Sommer, wenn die Temperaturen es zulassen kann man sogar im Pool des Wasserfalls baden und sich erfrischen. Aber bei gerade einmal 14 Grad bei unserem Besuch war mir nicht nach schwimmen. Das spannende an diesem Wasserfall jedoch ist der Fakt, dass man hinter ihm hindurch laufen kann.

After we have passed the waterfall, it went a little downhill, followed by a narrow path under overhanging cliffs and directly to the next waterfall, the Blackfellow Falls

Here too, you have to walk behind the falling water to continue the hike.

Nachdem wir den Wasserfall passiert hatten, ging es ein wenig bergab, gefolgt von einem schmalen weg unter überhängenden Klippen hindurch und direkt zum nächsten Wasserfall, den Blackfellow Falls.

Auch hier, muss man hinter dem herabfallenden Wasser hindurch laufen um die Wanderung fortzusetzen.

From here it goes slowly uphill, through various forests with many different plants until you finally reach the first clearing. in some clearings you can see as far as the coast and thus the skyline of Surfers Paradise.

Von hier an geht es langsam wieder bergauf, hindurch durch verschiedne Wälder mit vielen verschiedenen Pflanzen bis man schließlich die erste Lichtung erreicht. An manchen Lichtungen kann man bis zur Küste und somit die skyline von Surfers Paradise sehen.

Natural Bridge section

After about 2 hours of hiking we took a short break to strengthen ourselves and then drove to the natural bridge section, which is about a 20-minute drive away.

In contrast to the Springbrook plateau, in which there are several hiking trails and lookouts, there is only one hike here. However, there is something to see on the 1 km long circular path.

On a sealed circuit track through forest you will see a lot of birds until you reach a small cascade

Nach ungefähr 2 stunden Wanderung machten wir eine kurze pause um uns zu stärken und fuhren im Anschluss zur natural bridge section, welche ca 20min Autofahrt entfernt ist.

Im Gegensatz zum Springbrook plateau, in welchem es mehrere Wanderwege und Lookouts gibt, gibt es hier nur eine einzige Wanderung. auf dem nur 1km langen rundweg gibt es jedoch was zu sehen.

Auf einem asphaltierten Rundweg durch den Wald sehen Sie viele Vögel, bis Sie eine kleine Kaskade erreichen

From here its only a few minutes until you reach the arched cave to witness the waterfall plunging from above.

Von hier aus sind es nur noch wenige Minuten bis Sie die gewölbte Höhle erreichen, um den Wasserfall zu beobachten wie er von oben in die Höhle fällt.

And if that's not enough, you can wait until it gets dark and watch the glow worms in this cave.

We had enough for this day and made our way home.

Und wem das alles noch nicht genug ist, der kann warten bis es dunkel wird und die Glühwürmchen in dieser höhle beobachten.

Wir hatten genug für diesen Tag und machten uns auf die heimreise.
