Webhosting services die all the time. That's why, most of the time, if we link to only the default URL of a blog, we're at an extremely high risk of not being able to access that information in the future. If we want to longevity for our links and references, we can either download the content and link to it, or we can archive it.
Tip: Link to one or two archived versions of any linked website in order to ensure the longevity of information.
Wayback Machine
There is an archive called Archive.org which provides a service called Wayback Machine, which archives websites on demand and provides a timeline of snapshots. This helps to see the changes of a website, and to do version control in case information is edited out.
To save a site, go to web.archive.org and, to the bottom-left, there is a field titled Save Page Now
Archive.today
Another on-demand archive is archive.today. It has alternate urls in case it's not always accessible:
This one is pretty straight-forward. If you can't access an archived version (DNS doesn't resolve), then try other TLD's. For example, if you can't access https://archive.today/oTbif, rewrite "today" to "fo" as such: https://archive.fo/oTbif. Try other endings and maybe you'll be able to see the information. 😊
It also has a search bar in case you want to find out if a website has been archived before.
