Oh yes! It's December, the last month of the year.

Somehow, this is a must-anticipated month, for some reason. One is that it marks the end of the year and people are all about in gratitude for how far they've come in the year, amidst all that has happened and could have happened. The other reason is that it marks the Christmas season; a worldwide celebration of the birth of the LORD Jesus Christ, which marks a great historical event in the Christian faith.
December is usually a festive period. As a result, many individuals and groups plan a lot of events and activities during this period. Some include reunions, hangouts, cultural festivals and so on, alongside the well-known Christmas carols. It's of celebration period. Let's not forget how this period also ushers in the New Year celebration. On a day like this, which marks the first of the month, you can already sense Christmas in the air.

Lest I forget, December 1st is usually marked as World Aids Day. It's good to know that society considers those living with the ailment and makes efforts to help, likewise to sensitise the public about it.
Back to the discourse. Maybe you haven't sensed Christmas in the air already, but where I am currently, it's been in the air about four days back. From the 28th to the 30th of November, the governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Muftwang held a Unity Christmas Carol in Jos South, at The Ten Commandment Altar which featured great personalities and wonderful programs such as the reading of the 9 Carol lessons and music ministrations. Roundabouts within the town were decorated for this period and the carol ushered us well into the season.

It was good to see people turn out en masse for this. It wasn't just about a carol, but a declaration of peace, progress and unity of the state as it has suffered devastating issues of insecurity this year. Renowned personalities and ministers of the gospel graced the event. Among them were music ministers and preachers of the gospel like Dr Paul Enenche, Pst. Chingtok, Sinach, Buchi, Mallam Razphil and more. Also, dignitaries like the former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, political leaders, past and present within the state availed themselves.
It was an eventful weekend. I was not able to make it on the first and second days, but I made sure to make it on the last day. And you know what they say, “the bottom part of the pot is the sweetest.” I hope it was the sweetest though. Due to some reasons, I couldn't make it early enough, so I didn't get a good seat as there was what I could estimate as 5,000 people on the carol ground.

People sang along to the beautiful songs, and the atmosphere was filled with joy. The climax of the event on the third day featured a session of worship and healing/deliverance from Dr Paul Enenche. I had to leave along with my friends before it got to the very end so as to secure a vehicle to move back home. On our way back, I witnessed fireworks in the air from the carol ground. It was a beautiful sight even from afar.

The governor and the government of the state must be applauded for an event like this. It was well organised with logistics provided to and fro and security stationed in place. It was a groundbreaking and overwhelming event. And with that, Christmas is already set in motion here. I know many Christmas carols from different churches and groups will begin to hold as we've entered the month of December. So, I say Happy New Month and Merry Christmas in advance.
