in GEMS3 years ago

Hello friends, I hope you are well. The day I come to explain how to properly clean our power source, as you will see, I have had many clients who come with the damaged source and when uncovering it and reviewing the possible cause of the problem, it turns out that they are full to the top of dust. , dust everywhere that does not let the air from the cooler cool the electronic components to prevent them from overheating and therefore the said source was damaged, so it occurred to me to explain to them how I do a good cleaning of a power source when I do maintenance to computers that they bring me to review, without more anything to add let's start:

Here we have all the tools to use, an old cloth to be able to clean better, a toothbrush to remove dust on difficult surfaces, a little ordinary alcohol from a pharmacy and a screwdriver to open the fountain. Added to this I also recommend using a hair dryer, but if you don't have no problem, brushing and mopping you can remove all the dust in its entirety as well.

With the hair dryer we clean the surface a little trying to remove all the dust possible, it is recommended to do this in a very ventilated place and use a mask, these devices having a cooler turning all the time tend to store a lot of dust in a very short time.

With the help of a screwdriver we remove the screws that hold the casing of the source, and with great care we try to uncover it taking into account that there will be a cable holding the 2 components, the one that goes from the cooler to the power supply.

With the help of the toothbrush, we lock the fan blades in such a way that they do not rotate when we are blowing with the hair dryer, if you do not have a dryer simply do this step by brushing well but very carefully, the cooler blades are usually a little fragile.

Now we wet our cloth with a little alcohol and in this way we eliminate all possible traces of dust, achieving this objective, we remove the screws that adjust the cooler to the housing, we remove it, and we clean it well on the other side, we just brush and mop with alcohol, once finished we screw the cooler back to the casing.

With the part that contains the electronic circuits we do basically the same, do not be afraid to carve the electronic board, all its components are well soldered with tin, finishing this part, we are already finishing our work.

We put all the screws back in their place and voila! It is perfect to use again, if you used alcohol there is no risk of a short circuit so it is important to use alcohol to do this type of cleaning.

That's all for today I hope it has been useful to you, before I go I want to tell you that I recommend doing this type of cleaning every 3 or 4 months depending on the environment where you have your desktop computer, remember that good ventilation for our electrical equipment is very important if we want to extend their useful life.
