Since I was little, I have always liked to observe the textures generated by the passage of time and the elements on everyday materials, such as plaster walls or metal panels. Since I had my first camera (when it cost money to develop the film and you had to be selective with the photos) I liked to observe and photograph the textures of my urban environment. However, in modern places like my city, Madrid, it was difficult to find truly deteriorated materials. Something that in Eastern Europe abounds.
ESP: Desde pequeño siempre me ha gustado observar las texturas que genera el paso del tiempo y los elementos sobre materiales cotidianos, como muros de yeso o paneles de metal. Ya desde que tuve mi primera cámara de fotos (cuando costaba dinero revelar los carretes y había que ser selectivo con las fotos) me gustaba observar y fotografiar las texturas de mi entorno urbano. Sin embargo en lugares modernos como mi ciudad, Madrid, era difícil encontrar materiales verdaderamente deteriorados. Algo que en el Este de Europa abunda.
I am currently in Plovdiv (Bulgaria), in what is supposed to be the oldest inhabited city in Europe. Here, even walking through the city center, one can find countless interesting textures in stone, plaster, metal or wood, which I capture with my camera.
Actualmente estoy en Plovdiv (Bulgaria), en la que se supone que es la ciudad habitada más antigua de Europa. Aquí, incluso paseando por el centro de la ciudad, uno puede encontrar infinidad de texturas interesantes en piedra, yeso, metal o madera, que voy capturando con mi cámara.
I love observing and "collecting" these types of images, but in addition to enjoying the visual experience, one can earn money capturing textures. I recently came across the Shutterstock page, where you can sell your images, not just textures. A mí me encanta observar y "coleccionar" este tipo de imágenes, pero además de disfrutar de la experiencia visual uno puede ganar dinero capturando texturas. Recientemente conocí la página Shutterstock, donde uno puede vender sus imágenes, no solo de texturas. Datazo. Qué buenas fotos. En Venezuela hay pueblos costeros con arquitecturas coloniales donde el tiempo y el entorno marino han hecho mella. Se aprecian texturas muy interesantes en esas paredes carcomidas. Saludos!
