Hola querida comunidad de Hive…
Hello dear Hive community.
Today I want to share with all of you this pleasant meeting which prompted me to investigate a little more about these fascinating scaly reptiles, when these sauropsids begin to descend from the hill it is because the drought is beginning to be strong and their food is scarce since their diet depends on the vegetation of their habitat.
What I like the most are their incredible colors, some can be quite aggressive since they are treated with a bit of hostility, especially by the children who corner them to annoy them ... In the many excursions that my family and I have done to the hill I have never seen an Iguana and today I found out why; their vision is excellent and they can notice us from a great distance when these reptiles are not familiar with humans, they can sense that we are simply predators that threaten their habitat.
That black spot that we can see near their eye is called the eardrum and this transmits the sounds to an inner ear, they commonly live near water so I imagine that the reason for their visit is because of the freshness of my banana plants already that I water them every day.
To achieve these photographs we had to look for a ladder we were able to approach a short distance, I was trembling with nerves, I commented to my father that I felt like in the presence of a small dinosaur and I was not so wrong since Iguanas are relatives of the Iguanodon and the iguanodon that lived in the early Cretaceous period somewhere in Europe.
I have sat down to observe Iguanas and look for their differences with other lizards and there was something that intrigued me, I did not know it was until my father told me that their claws looked like those of a Tyrannosaurus rex and then I realized, these lizards are herbivores and they have claws of carnivores. As you can see, its claws are quite scary and are used to remove the shells of some fruits.

These reptiles have many strange and incredible things such as the fact that they have a third eye known as the “parietal eye” and it can be confused with a pale scale located behind the neck. My biggest fear when approaching me is that they can give strong blows or whip with their tail especially the adults and their how hard skin is must be painful.
Hola @elmundodexao te quedo muy bien tu post. Feliz noche.
