I had a pretty exciting weekend!
Happened to be down town exploring the city when we noticed this very organised protest.
Apparently majority are not happy with the governing of Pedro Sanchez, and more particularly how he has handled the covid 19 pandemic here in Spain.
I am not big on politics, but we can see by the numbers Spain has been hit pretty hard and the virus contagion is on the rise once again. Ironically, some people in this protest never wore masks, perhaps that's the message they were looking to convey. My Spanish is still terrible as it was when I came 7 months ago, but in my defense, the language schools have been closed and between my day time job, exploring and dealing with the terribly slow government offices here, I find myself squeezed on time to say the least.
Otherwise, from what I understood from this protest, they were protesting the memorandum and the handling of covid 19 by the prime minister.
Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón is a Spanish politician who has been Prime Minister of Spain since June 2018. He has also been Secretary-General of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party since June 2017, having previously held that office from 2014 to 2016.
It was rather interesting to see how protests are done here, very different from the ones in my country. One common aspect of Kenyan protests is flying stones and destruction of property, what can I say, we go hard!
