Hola, Hive!
Mi nombre es Edson Querales. Tengo 22 años y soy un estudiante de Artes Audiovisuales especializado en Post-Producción.
Hace unos años, por rumores de algunos amigos, me enteré de la existencia del ancestro de este website: Steemit. Me hablaron mucho de este sitio debido a que mis amigos estaban bien conscientes de lo mucho que me gusta escribir sobre lo que me gusta en general. Desde siempre he sido de publicar reseñas, artículos y recomendaciones de arte en general en mis redes sociales. Textos que han gustado mucho entre mis amigos y en ocasiones se han vuelto medianamente populares.
La idea de escribir artículos y reseñas y ser leído por más personas siempre me ha resultado tentadora, pero no he sabido llegar a esos mundos y que mis ideas lleguen a más personas. Hasta que supe de Steemit.
Estuve durante unas semanas dándole vueltas a si escribir o no allí, sin embargo, no me supe adaptar y pasé por un bloqueo creativo que además estaba aprisionado por mi falta de tiempo en aquel momento (estudiar y trabajar). Casi tres años después, me encuentro de regreso, esta vez en Hive.
Tras estar durante ya casi un año dentro de las cuatro paredes de mi casa, encontré la chispa que necesitaba para volver a escribir.
Hello, Hive! My name is Edson Querales, i'm 22 years old and I am a Audiovisual Arts student, specialized in post-production. A few years ago, I heard some rumours about this website ancestor: Steemit. People talked to me a lot about this site, because they knew how much I enjoy to write about everything I like in general. I write and publish a lot of reviews and articles in my social networks since the beggining. Reviews and articles that my friends enjoy a lot and even sometimes they became mildly popular. The idea of writing articles and reviews and being read by more people has always been in my mind, but I've never knew which places to go and make my ideas get closer to more persons. Until I found out about Steemit. The idea of writing for Steemit was on my mind for several weeks, but in the end, I was confused and didn't knew how Steemit worked. I also was having a terrible writers block and became imprisoned by my daily routine (I worked and studied at the same time). Almost three years have past since that moment, and now I'm here, this time on Hive. After almost a year of being held prisoner inside these 4 walls because of the pandemic situation, I found the spark I needed to kill that writers block.
Un poco sobre mi historia / A little bit about my personal story
Soy oriundo de Maturín, una ciudad con complejo de pueblo en el oriente de Venezuela. Actualmente vivo en Caracas. Desde muy joven siempre fui adepto a escribir, mi principal pasión es la narrativa y cualquiera de sus medios (cine, literatura, teatro, videojuegos) y por ello, ya con 10 años comencé a escribir mis propios cuentos y poemas. No me tomó ni tres años para convertirme en un auténtico tragalibros, se me veía sentado leyendo en cualquier parte a la que fuese y no podía salir sin un libro. Sin embargo, esta afición siempre fue vista con algo de desinterés por parte de mis allegados, por eso siempre fue algo que reservé para mí. Hasta que unos años después conseguí buenos amigos que me impulsaron a continuar y encontré una especie de despertar como escritor. Teniendo apenas 16 años escribí mi primera novela, titulada "El Hombre que Tejía Recuerdos". La cual postulé para un concurso literario nacional llamado "Bienal Julián Padrón", estuve compitiendo contra escritores consagrados y profesionales en el hacer literario.
I was born in Maturín, a place half-city, half-town, in the east of Venezuela.
But I'm currently living in Caracas. Since very young i've been sort of a writer, my main passion is narrative in every single one of its forms (cinema, literature, theatre, videogames) and because of that I started writing my own short stories and poems when I was 10 years old. It didn't took me three years to become an authentic bookworm, you could see me sitting anywhere with a book in my hands and I was simply unable to go out of my house withour a book. However, this hobby was seen with a little bit of indifference from the people around me, so I kept that to myself. Until few years later, I found good friends who motivated me to keep writing, then I had some sort of awakening as a writer. Being on my sixteens, I wrote my first novel, which was titled "The man who sew memories". And I applied to a contest with it, a contest that was named "Biennial Julián Padrón". I was competing against a bunch of authentic writers and professionals.

No gané, pero obtuve una motivación enorme para mejorar. Comencé a estudiar en una universidad pedagógica (UPEL), especializado en Lengua y Literatura. A pesar que la educación no fuese lo mío, no habían más oportunidades de estudio cercanas a las letras en aquel lugar mitad pueblo, mitad ciudad. Pasé un par de años allí, estudiando y echándole ganas aunque no fuese lo mío. Incluso durante ese período gané un concurso de cuentos en inglés organizado por la misma universidad.
I didn't win, but I found a great motivation to keep getting better. I started a career in Education in the UPEL (Experimental Pedagogical University "Libertador"), specializing in Language and Literature. Even if it wasn't exactly my thing, there weren't any other study opportunities in Maturín. I spent two years there, studying and doing my best, even if I didn't really wanted to be a teacher. In that period of time, I won a short story contest, organized by the university.

El tiempo pasó y las cosas se pusieron complicadas. Comencé a sufrir de condiciones económicas muy apretadas y me vi forzado a abandonar la universidad. Comencé a trabajar como recepcionista en un hotel, durante ese período le di rienda suelta a mi afición por el cine, consumía películas con el mismo ritmo que consumía libros hace unos años. Y así estuve por un par de años, hasta que se me hizo posible la oportunidad de venir a vivir a la capital. Estando aquí, le di rienda suelta a mi pasión por la narrativa, esta vez por un canal diferente: el cine. Logré conseguir un cupo estudiando en la UNEARTE. La única universidad pública de Artes en Venezuela. Durante un año estuve muy feliz allí, me iba de maravilla y luego la cuarentena apareció. Las clases online fueron un desencanto gigante para mí, por lo que me vi en la obligación de encontrar otras formas de aprender. Durante todo este tiempo me he nutrido tanto como he podido, he visto decenas y decenas de películas, he aprendido a utilizar softwares de edición, leído teoría e historia sobre cine, y durante mis ratos de ocio, me encontré a mí mismo reseñando cada película y cada serie que me impactara. Lo mismo comencé a hacer con la música, que es mi segunda pasión, la cual cultivé desde siempre estando en coros y en el sistema de Orquesta de Maturín, además de ser también un consumidor ávido de discos. De hecho, se me conoce más por mi pasión a la música que por mi pasión a las historias.
>Time passed and things got complicated. I started having a really tough economical situation and I found myself in the obligation of dropping my career. I started working full time in a hotel. In that time, I let out a different form of my passion: cinema. I watched movies at the same rhythm I used to read books. And it was like that for two years, until I got the opportunity to come to Caracas. Being here, I found another way to study something related to my passions. This time, I applied for UNEARTE, the only public arts university in the whole country. I was very happy for a year, until quarantine became a thing. Online school is a massive let down for me, so, I needed to find new ways of learing. This whole time, I've been watching lots of movies and learned how to use video-editing softwares, read a lot of the history of cinema, and sometimes, I wrote about every movie or tv-series that hit the right spots. I started to do the same with music, which is my second passion, passion that I cultivated by enrolling in choirs and the Maturin orchestra system. I also am a huge music consumer, it's funny because friends know me better because my passion for music, not my passion for stories.
Qué quiero ofrecer a esta comunidad y mis expectativas / What I offer to the community and expectations
Como mencioné al principio, siempre me ha gustado escribir reseñas, artículos y opiniones en general sobre las obras que consumo. Ya sean literarias, audiovisuales o musicales. Mi intención al llegar a Hive es compartir mi pasión por estas artes, a través de la publicación de artículos y reseñas y así hacerles llegar las obras que quisiera que todo el mundo viese, ofrecerles mi humilde opinión sobre estas y de vez en cuando mostrarles artículos que podrían encontrar interesantes sobre cualquiera de estos temas. Ya sea para ofrecerles una lectura amena, encontrar una nueva recomendación y así saber qué ver en Netflix esta tarde o incluso enseñarles una que otra cosa de estos maravillosos mundos. Hive para mí representa un lugar para compartir mis pasiones y hacerlas llegar esta gran comunidad de la que tan bien me han hablado (y tal vez incluso mostrarles algunos de mis cuentos). Espero encontrar aquí ese lugar y además leerlos también a ustedes y compartir nuestras pasiones. Un gran saludo. ¡Allá vamos!
*As I mentioned in the beggining, I've always enjoyed to write articles, reviews and giving my opinion of any work of art I consume. Even if they're literary, audiovisual or musical. My intentions with Hive, are to share my passion for these arts, through the publishment of articles and reviews that will show you all these works I love so much, offering my humble opinion in them, and sometimes writing about curiosities related to these arts. You might find an enjoyable reading material or maybe the next movie you'll watch in Netflix or even teach you some things about these wonderful art worlds (and maybe sharing my short stories too).
