De vez en cuando surge trabajo que realizar a algún avión fuera de la Organización de Mantenimiento Aeronáutico (OMA) donde trabajo y en esta ocasión nos tocó realizar los preparativos para un vuelo de traslado de un avión que se encuentra en otro aeropuerto y que ha estado varios años sin volar, al cual tampoco se le ha realizado preservación durante este tiempo ni se ha realizado encendido a su motor.

From time to time there is work to be done to some aircraft outside the Repair Station (RS) where I work and this time we had to make the preparations for a flight to transfer an aircraft that is in another airport and has been several years without flying, which has not been preserved during this time nor has it had its engine started.
El objetivo es revisar en detalle el avión y realizar las pruebas necesarias para que sea completamente seguro el avión con el fin de que pueda volar desde el aeropuerto donde este se encuentra hasta el aeropuerto donde se encuentra nuestra OMA, en donde podremos inspeccionar más detalladamente el avión.
Mi jefe y dos mecánicos viajaron hasta donde se encuentra el avión con anterioridad, varias semanas atrás, en este viaje chequearon que herramientas se necesitaría llevar de la OMA y que componentes serían necesarios cambiar para que el dueño del avión los fuese adquiriendo.

My boss and two mechanics traveled to the plane several weeks ago and on this trip, they checked what tools would need to be brought from the RS and what components would need to be changed for the owner of the plane to purchase them.
El lunes de esta semana ya teníamos todo preparado, empacamos todas las herramientas y manuales del avión que necesitaríamos, revisamos los repuestos que el dueño del avión nos había enviado, realicé la respectiva notificación a la Autoridad Aeronáutica de que realizaríamos un trabajo fuera de nuestra OMA y procedimos a guardar todo en los vehículos en que viajaríamos.
El martes salimos a las 8 de la mañana para aprovechar de trabajar lo más posible y apenas llegamos al avión descargamos de los vehículos todo lo que trajimos y comenzamos a trabajar en él.
On Monday of this week, we had everything ready, we packed all the tools and manuals of the plane that we would need, we checked the parts that the owner of the plane had sent us, I made the respective notification to the Aeronautical Authority that we would be doing some work outside our RS and we proceeded to store everything in the vehicles in which we would be traveling.
On Tuesday we left at 8 a.m. to take advantage of working as much as possible and as soon as we arrived at the plane we unloaded everything we brought with us from the vehicles and started working on it.

A medida que fuimos trabajando este día, nos dimos cuenta de que faltaron cosas por traer de la OMA, por tal motivo, un grupo tuvimos que retornar el martes en la tarde al finalizar la jornada de trabajo del día, mientras que el otro grupo de personal se hospedó en un hotel cerca del aeropuerto para continuar trabajando desde temprano.
Como tenía mi cámara a la mano (aproveché de llevarla para este viaje 😅), tomé esta foto del paisaje espectacular que observamos mientras íbamos en la carretera.
As we worked this day, we realized that there was a lack of things to bring from the RS, so one group had to return on Tuesday afternoon at the end of the day's work, while the other group of staff stayed at a hotel near the airport to continue working early.
Since I had my camera at hand (I took advantage of carrying it for this trip 😅), I took this photo of the spectacular landscape we observed while we were on the road.

Estuvimos trabajando hasta el viernes y cada vez que tomaba una pequeña pausa, agarraba mi cámara para tomar fotos, a continuación les comparto las que más me gustaron:

Mientras caminaba por el estacionamiento del hotel donde nos hospedamos (para curiosear un poco), me topé con estas hermosas flores:

Al avión le realizamos limpieza a los tanques de combustible, se drenó y cambió el aceite del motor reemplazando también el filtro de aceite, se reemplazaron todas las bujías del motor, se cambiaron las mangueras de aceite y de combustible del motor, además de las mangueras de hidráulico de los frenos, se cambiaron las pastillas de frenos, se colocaron unas ruedas temporales en los trenes de aterrizaje para trabajar las ruedas de este avión en la OMA y colocarlas después.
Además de esto, se realizó inspección de la parte interna de las alas y empenaje en busca de corrosión y daños (tarea de la que me encargué yo), encontrando solamente las ruinas de unos antiguos panales de avispas en estas zonas del avión, panales que fui quitando con cuidado para evitar hacer rayaduras en las láminas y vigas del avión.

In addition to this, the inside of the wings and empennages were inspected for corrosion and damage (work that I took care of), finding only the ruins of some old wasp combs in these areas of the plane, combs that I carefully removed to avoid scratching the plane's sheets and beams.

Tareas que serán realizadas la próxima vez que vayamos.
