✨Hello community of Hive! ✨
Venezuela is by its history, geographic location and coastal length, a fishing country; However, in recent years the crisis in this sector has impacted its production, jobs and the prices of this food. The Sucre state where I was born and live today is historically considered the largest fishery producer in the national territory, precisely because fishing is the most entrenched and profitable economic activity. Artisanal fishing also supplies 95% of the raw material for the fish product processing industries, provides jobs and benefits the surrounding community. Approximately 20,000 families live in the state from this activity and today I am showing you one of them. I present to you the González Galíndez family, a couple that with their beautiful artisanal fishing work covers the needs of their 4 children. Their income usually increases by fishing season. They explain to me that at this moment –June, July- there is an abundance of the fish called Tajalí (it is just the one I show you in the photographs), that is why it is the time they use to fish them and take advantage of the salting service. Their 4 children go to school but in their free time they dedicate themselves to artisanal fishing that unites them as a family and that at the same time offers them food and economic sustenance since they are in charge of selling rich species of fresh sea of the day and of excellent quality thus contributing to the local economy in the midst of the pandemic and the restrictions that we must comply with today.
