Snow Day Writing - Tuesday

in GEMS2 years ago

Yesterday morning was interesting. I woke up before 5am and I was getting tea going after turning on lights outside. I stood at the kitchen window and watched rain water pour off the roof. As I sat writing my post for the day the light slowly increased and as it did the rain quickly turned to snow. By 7am we had only a 1/4 inch of slush on the deck but .3" of water content. The morning soak was nice in the falling half snow.

I was able to get the rain gauge reading before it started to really snow which it kept up until late afternoon.

With it snowing all day it was the perfect day for me to get a ton of words written on my story. After taking J to school I was able to get going by 8am and by 10:30am I had the first chapter down which ended up at about 2150 words. At 11:30 I took R to school as it continued to snow.

Once back from taking R to school I sat down for another round of word sprints on the Spokane River Writers discord and another chapter. The writing flowed fairly easily and I found myself nearly done by the time I had to pick the boys up at 2pm. Once back it took only another 20 minutes and I had the chapter done. It came in at 2500 words and gave me 4690 words for the day and put me only 2352 shy of hitting the 50K.

A few times during the day really heavy bands of snow would come rolling through dropping big fat Christmas snow flakes. Those ones that look almost like plate size falling en-mass.

R's artwork from school. It was pretty funny they were all hung in the hallway outside their classroom and it got too warm I think and a bunch of the candy corns leaked trails of candy down the wall. His was one of the few to not do that.

I figured out how to do revisions in Scrivener so once I am done with this first draft @stryeyz and I can go back through and edit it. I also have color coding I am working on for my NaNoWriYe chart so that I can note which days are writing, note taking, or revisions. I think I only have 3 chapters left in the story so hope to have it done before the end of the month. I'll win NaNoWriMo today with the next chapter.

Today is J to school this morning, write my next chapter and win NaNo after, then pick him up at early release for the holiday, then at 2pm we are going to Deer Park to their new fire station and new head office for our fire district for a tour for Cub Scouts. It'll be nice to have scouts done earlier in the day so we can have the evening at home. I also have to get the turkey in brine so it will be ready for tomorrow.

Still no snow here, just rain today...Cold but not cold enough...
