If you happen to visit any Chinese store, house, or establishment, you will notice a bamboo-like plant is displayed in a specific area. It's called Lucky Bamboo.
Just a fun fact, these plants do not belong to the bamboo. They happen to look like bamboo hence it was called that way.
It belongs to a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae, native to Central Africa.
Another fun fact:
The number of lucky bamboo stalks determines the kinds of energy the Chinese good luck plant attracts into your home and life.
- 1 stalk = lucky log
- 2 stalks = love
- 3 stalks = three kinds of luck
- 4 stalks = draw negative energy out of the establishment
- 5 stalks = attract health
- 6 stalks = attract prosperity
- 7 stalks = bestow good health
- 8 stalks = foster growth
- 9 stalks = symbolize luck
- 10 stalks = represent completion
- 20 stalks = enduring health
I took these photos during my visit to Chinatown Heritage Center in Singapore and the first thing that I noticed is its price. Even the standard prices are already expensive for my preference and so I didn't buy one for myself. Also, these plants are too bulky to fit in my small luggage.
