As I have already told you on several occasions, I am currently a competitive dancer in the genre of Salsa casino. I've been doing this for several years now, and usually every time I attend a competition it is with a clear objective: to compete, obviously. But this time, I didn't have time to prepare for the competition, so I decided to go as a cheerleader and observer. And although it doesn't sound that way, I assure you that I enjoyed it a lot.

Me imagino que todos ustedes se harán la misma pregunta: si ella lleva varios años haciéndolo, ¿Porqué no compitió?.
Aquí te dejo mi respuesta corta: No tuve tiempo. Para quienes leyeron mi post de hace unos días, recientemente tuve que abandonar mi antigua academia de baile, con el fin de crecer y expandir mis horizontes, pero en el proceso dejé atrás a mi mejor amigo y pareja de baile, por lo que también significa que abandoné mi coreografía lista, así que no tuve tiempo de conseguir una pareja y montar un número nuevo o de hacer un número desde cero como solista, aunque pasaron varios meses desde mi cambio, les puedo asegurar que se necesita mucho más tiempo para adaptarse a un nuevo lugar, a sus profesores, estilos y aún así competir. Si a eso le sumas mi carrera universitaria, verás un tiempo aún más reducido.

Here's my short answer: I didn't have time. For those of you who read my post a few days ago, I recently had to leave my old dance academy, in order to grow and expand my horizons, but in the process I left behind my best friend and dance partner, so that also means I abandoned my ready choreography, so I didn't have time to get a partner and put together a new number or do a number from scratch as a soloist, although it's been several months since my change, I can assure you that it takes a lot more time to adapt to a new place, its teachers, styles and still compete. If you add to that my college career, you will see an even shorter time.
¿Que se sintió estar fuera de la competencia? | How did it feel to be out of the competition?
Al principio fue extraño, en toda mi vida competitiva, nunca había asistido a una sin participar. Aún así me la disfruté muchísimo, fueron 3 días de competencia, 3 días de diferentes actividades abiertas al público y que obviamente viví por completo sin los nervios de saber si ganaría o no. Así que para resumir diría que fue muy divertido y sin presiones, pero aún así, no quiero dejar de competir, es una parte demasiado importante del proceso.
At first it was strange, in all my competitive life, I had never attended one without participating. I still enjoyed it very much, it was 3 days of competition, 3 days of different activities open to the public and obviously I lived completely without the nerves of knowing if I would win or not. So to sum up I would say it was a lot of fun and no pressure, but still, I don't want to stop competing, it's too important part of the process.

Iniciaré esta parte del post diciéndoles que la competencia duró 3 días y fue realizada en el hotel Paradise, antiguo Venetur de Puerto la Cruz (Muy lindo por cierto). El 1er día fue una fogata de bienvenida a la orilla de la playa, el 2do día fue la competencia como tal, premiaciones, la fiesta post competencia, y el 3er día fue la fiesta de despedida en la piscina. Creo que hablaré de cada dia de forma individual para contarles mejor del tema.
I will start this part of the post by telling you that the competition lasted 3 days and was held at the Paradise Hotel, formerly Venetur in Puerto la Cruz (very nice by the way). The 1st day was a welcome bonfire at the shore of the beach, the 2nd day was the competition as such, awards, the post competition party, and the 3rd day was the farewell party at the pool. I think I will talk about each day individually to tell you more about it.
La fogata | The bonfire
Está fue sin duda la parte más relajante de toda la competencia, a pesar de sentir la tensión de los competidores, pude disfrutar muchísimo de la bienvenida, me hace feliz estar cerca del mar, y la noche fue tan bonita que era difícil estar de mal humor, aparte el ambiente tenía mucha energía positiva, música excelente, e incluso una banda hizo su presentación, por lo que sin planearlo disfruté de rico concierto en la playa, en compañía de grandes amigos.
This was undoubtedly the most relaxing part of the whole competition, despite feeling the tension of the competitors, I could enjoy the welcome very much, it makes me happy to be near the sea, and the night was so nice that it was difficult to be in a bad mood, besides the atmosphere had a lot of positive energy, excellent music, and even a band made their presentation, so without planning it I enjoyed a rich concert on the beach, in the company of great friends.
La competencia | The competition
Este día estuvo cargado de emociones, porque aunque yo no competi, tuve a varios amigos muy cercanos que si lo hicieron, algunos ganaron , otros no... Así que es extraño no poder estar feliz por todos al mismo tiempo, cuando realmente solo quería lo mejor para cada uno de ellos en sus categorías. Por otro lado, en cada competencia reafirmo muchísimo mi creencia de que en Venezuela hay demasiado talento, demasiada pasión y demasiadas ganas de hacer bien las cosas, fueron muy pocos los montajes coreográficos que no me gustaron. Pude ver mucho crecimiento en los bailarines que ya conozco y sorprenderme por los nuevos talentos que no conocía. De verdad si en algún momento tienen la oportunidad de asistir a este tipo de competencias, háganlo son todo un espectáculo, y un montón de chicos dispuesto a dar todo de si mismos cada vez que tocan esa tarima.
This day was full of emotions, because although I didn't compete, I had several close friends who did, some won, others didn't.... So it's strange not to be happy for all of them at the same time, when I really just wanted the best for each of them in their categories. On the other hand, in each competition I reaffirm my belief that in Venezuela there is too much talent, too much passion and too much desire to do things well, there were very few choreographies that I did not like. I could see a lot of growth in the dancers I already know and I was surprised by the new talents I did not know. Really, if you ever have the opportunity to attend this kind of competitions, do it, they are a spectacle, and a lot of kids willing to give all of themselves every time they touch that stage.
La piscina | The swimming pool
Si la fogata fue lo más relajante, la piscina fue lo más divertido, fue como para renovarnos, un día solo para reír y disfrutar sin miedo ni presiones (para los que compitieron). De verdad este día fue para reírnos y rememorar los mejores momentos de la competencia. Sentí que fue algo así como una 2da bienvenida por parte de mi nueva academia, porque pasamos todo el día jugando como niños, bailando y riéndonos de todo y de todos. Para mí fue el cierre perfecto de un fin de semana lleno de nuevas perspectivas.
If the bonfire was the most relaxing, the pool was the most fun, it was like a day to renew ourselves, a day just to laugh and enjoy without fear or pressure (for those who competed). Truly this day was to laugh and remember the best moments of the competition. I felt it was something like a 2nd welcome from my new academy, because we spent the whole day playing like kids, dancing and laughing at everything and everyone. For me it was the perfect closure to a weekend full of new perspectives.
Y bueno, este fue el resumen de mi experiencia en el congreso nacional Fusión en Clave 2021, como ya les dije, lastimosamente no competí, pero siento que no me hizo falta para disfrutar de todo lo que este congreso me dió a experimentar. Espero poder participar activamente el próximo año, y quién sabe, puede que regrese a mi casa con un premio o dos... And well, this was the summary of my experience in the national congress Fusion in Clave 2021, as I told you, unfortunately I did not compete, but I feel that I did not need to enjoy everything that this congress gave me to experience. De por sí vivir esa experiencia ya es una gran ganancia, a veces es bueno estar como espectadores para poder ver las cosas desde un ángulo diferente al que acostumbramos y eso te dará algunos puntos claves a tener en cuenta para tu próxima competencia. La danza es pasión, esos congresos deben ser super fascinantes por todo lo que vives, las emociones y la gente que conoces. Sé que vendrán mas oportunidades valiosas donde puedas mostrar tu talento.
