This got my mind reflecting on the compulsory dress code and appearance we are force to maintain all through our years in Med School. Even in unconducive learning conditions, where one is bound to sweat when not putting a shirt on, we are expected to wear corporate shirts and a tie before taking lectures.
If only we could embrace our uniqueness and that of our environment rather than comparing ourselves with others, I believe we'll go a long way.
Fela Kuti is indeed a legend and an advocate of speaking the truth.
It's much better to be genuine than to be a gentleman who conforms to alien codes of dress or behavior. As you explain so well, Fela was real, genuine ... and a genius.

Fela is a legend. His music was more than just songs, they were sermons.
Fela Kuti was really ahead of his time. I have heard this song and some other of his songs and I have never thought about it in this way.
