Un tiempo después de entrar a la universidad me integre a un grupo de excursión de la universidad llamado CEUP (Centro de Excursionismo Universitario Politécnico), al cual entre con y por influencia de mis amigos, como cualquier club de excursión cada cierto tiempo con la disponibilidad de los integrantes se hacen excursiones largas o cortas, en este caso se hizo para los Reyes (en la semana Santa) que se encuentra en la frontera entre el estado Lara y Trujillo, en donde duraríamos 4 días acampando.

Antes de realizar la excursión se deben de hacer unos preparativos, como preparar el menú, que aportara cada persona y por ultimo pero no menos importante entrenar (en mi experiencia lo más importante más tarde verán porque), para los entrenamiento por cuestiones de cuadrar el horario de todos se decidió entrenar por grupos y entrenar por cuenta propia, pero como nunca fui fan de hacer ejercicio no entrene mucho (ya que no creí que fuera tan lejos), al final entrenamos como 2 horas por cinco días, en el club hay una cierta disponibilidad de equipos propios del mismo para las excursiones (bolsos, carpas, aislantes y sacos de dormir), aparte de eso se acordó repartir los ingredientes y utensilios (ollas, cocinas junto con las bombonas).
Before going on the excursion, some preparations must be made, such as preparing the menu, which each person will contribute and last but not least, training (in my experience the most important thing later on you will see why), for training for reasons of balancing the Everyone's schedule was decided to train in groups and train on their own , but since I was never a fan of exercising, I didn't train much (since I didn't think it would go that far), in the end we trained like 2 hours for five days , in the club there are a certain availability of its own equipment for excursions ( bags, tents, insulation and sleeping bags ) , apart from that it was agreed to distribute the ingredients and utensils (pots, kitchen s together with the cylinders ) .

Llego el día de la excursión y se acordó el reunirnos el día anterior en una casa cercana al terminal de transbarca (un terminal de autobuses) y nos paramos a las 6 am para poder partir a una buena hora y llegar con buen tiempo a los Reyes, antes de partir terminaron de llegar las personas que faltaban, en el terminal tomamos un carro para Carora, en donde tomaríamos un carrito para llegar al pueblo más cercano a los Reyes que se encuentra en el estado Trujillo (se llama El Empedrado), al llegar nos detuvimos para almorzar (lo cual fue como al mediodía) , luego empezamos la caminata.
The day of the excursion arrived and it was agreed to meet the day before in a house near the transbarca terminal (a bus terminal) and we stopped at 6 am to be able to leave at a good time and arrive in good time to the Reyes , before we ended up reaching people missing in the terminal take a car to Carora, where we would take a trolley to reach the people most close to the R eyes that is in the state Trujillo ( called the Stoned ) , upon arrival we stopped for lunch (which was around noon), then we started the walk.

Al estar el pueblo en la cima de una loma empezamos a caminar colina abajo, luego poco a poco se fue aplanando el terreno pero de vez es cuando habían subidas largas (que como no entrene como debía me costó muchos después de la 3ra subida), nos paramos como 4 veces para descansar, pero ya como a las 3 horas el terreno se volvió escarpado y ya estaba muy fatigado, a las pocas horas ya me dolía todo y el sendero estaba en una montaña de lajas, además al ser muy empinado y ser el sendero no muy visible me sentía en peligro.
Poco tiempo después empezó a oscurecer, mis piernas empezaron a ceder y al ser esa parte del sendero cuesta abajo prácticamente la hice sentado, ya había empezado a tomar una actitud derrotista y comencé a auto-insultarme, “que no servía para nada”, “no se para que me metí en esto si se cómo soy yo de flojo”, pero el uno de los veteranos del club y en esto del senderismo (además de ser bombero), se quedó conmigo mientras los demás se adelantaban ya que estaba oscureciendo rápido y debían de armar el campamento mientras se pudiera ver, la verdad no entiendo como tenía la paciencia para soportarme y le agradecí mucho después de eso. Llegamos al campamento al anochecer, lo primero que hice fue acostarme y tomarme un calmante muscular, mientras estaba acostado mis amigos con los que entre al club fueron a bañarse a un riachuelo que estaba colina abajo del campamento, un rato después se escucharon unos gritos y llegaron corriendo (creímos que se consiguieron un animal o algo), les preguntamos qué había pasado, y nos dijeron que habían visto una sombra blanca moverse entre las piedras cerca de ellos, los demás fueron a revisar y no vieron nada, un rato después como seguían alterados tuvieron la idea de rezar en la carpa todos juntos (en el campamento eran un carpa grande donde dormimos 6 personas y 3 carpas pequeñas donde dormían 3-2 personas), éramos como 10 personas en la carpa sentados rezando y hubo un momento que me dio mucha risa porque de repente en la carpa de al lado dijeron (desde afuera parece un secta rezando en plena nada, después de eso cenamos y nos fuimos a dormir.

A short time later it began to get dark, my legs began to give way and since that part of the path was downhill I practically made it sitting, I had already begun to take a defeatist attitude and I began to insult myself, "it was useless", "I don't know why I got into this if I know how lazy I am", but one of the club's veterans and in this hiking thing (besides being a firefighter) , stayed with me while the others came forward since it was getting dark fast and should n setting up camp as he could see , really I do not understand how he had the patience to put up and thanked him much after that. We arrived at the camp at dusk, the first thing I did was lie down and take a muscle pain reliever, while I was lying down my friends with whom I entered the club went to bathe in a stream that was down the hill from the camp, a while later they heard some screams and They came running (we thought they got an animal or something) , we asked them what had happened, and they told us that they had seen a white shadow move among the stones near them, the others went to check and saw nothing, a while later like They were still upset, they had the idea of praying in the tent all together (in the camp they were a large tent where 6 people slept and 3 small tents where 3-2 people slept) , we were like 10 people in the tent sitting praying and there was a moment that It made me laugh because suddenly in the tent next door they said (from the outside it looks like a sect praying in the middle of nothing , after that we had dinner and went to sleep.

Al amanecer como me había sentido mal cuando llegue y era de noche, no me había fijado en el entorno y esa mañana lo pude ver, era hermoso al bajar hacia el riachuelo me di cuenta que todo el suelo era roca sólida, una roca natural que recorría como 10 metros de largo y por encima pasaba el riachuelo.

En los primeros 2 días nos dedicamos a explorar y los más familiarizados con el lugar (miembros que ya habían ido anteriormente) nos mostraron los alrededores, al bajar un poco en dirección en la corriente vimos una caída de entre uno 18~20 metros de altura, lo rodeamos para poder bajar aunque fue un poco empinado pudimos llegar a la base de la cascada donde nos bañamos y entretuvimos hasta el mediodía.

Como se tenía acordado comíamos dos veces al día (en la mañana un desayuno completo para aguantar hasta la cena), lo cual nos turnábamos, nos reuníamos todos para comer y echar cuento y bromear entre nosotros. Esto lo repetimos en todo el transcurso de la excursión.
Un momento gracioso en esos días fue que además de lo que pase en el transcurso de llegar mientras estábamos en el riachuelo (en la zona donde era piedra solida) me resbale hacia atrás, lo cual me dolió mucho pero pareció gracioso porque al uno que le habían pasado esas cosas en el viaje fue a mí y lo que me quedaba era reírme de la situación.
As agreed, we ate twice a day (in the morning a full breakfast to last until dinner), which we took turns, we all got together to eat and tell stories and joke with each other. We repeat this throughout the tour.
A funny moment in those days was that in addition to what happened in the course of arriving while we were in the stream (in the area where it was solid stone) I slipped backwards, which hurt me a lot but it seemed funny because the one who Those things had happened on the trip, it was up to me and what was left for me was to laugh at the situation.
Llego el día de volver y antes mientras estuvimos allí unos lugareños nos dijeron que había otro camino el cual ellos usaban que era más “fácil”, y optamos por tomarlo ya que por donde vinimos, el cual empezaba al pasar la montaña del lado contrario de donde teníamos el campamento (cruzando el riachuelo), al seguir caminando nos dimos cuenta el camino era más empinado y pronunciado que por donde habíamos ido pero ya era muy tarde para volver por lo que seguimos, subíamos y subíamos (parecía que no tenía fin), hasta que llegamos a un par de casas, que al acercarnos nos dimos cuenta que no había nadie, paramos para descansar allí y tomar un poco de sombra, al continuar el camino era cuesta abajo y en zigzag por lo que no era difícil de caminar, como luego de 1 hora a lo lejos en la montaña que teníamos a la vista veíamos unas casas y bromeando dije “capas que ese es El Empedrado”, pero a medida que avanzábamos más odiaba que esa broma era realidad.
The day came to return and before, while we were there, some locals told us that there was another path which they used that was "easier", and we opted to take it because where we came from, which began when passing the mountain on the opposite side from where we had the camp (crossing the stream) , as we continued walking we realized the path was steeper and steeper than where we had gone but it was too late to return so we continued, we went up and up (it seemed that there was no end ), until we reached a couple of houses, which when we got closer we realized that there was no one, we stopped to rest there and take a little shade, as we continued the path was downhill and zigzag so it was not difficult to walking, as after 1 hour in the distance on the mountain that we had in sight we saw some houses and jokingly I said "layers that is El Empedrado" , but as we advanced more I hated that this joke was reality.
Al llegar al momento en donde convergían las montañas nos quedaban puto camino cuesta arriba, pero estaba pavimentado (ya era cerca del mediodía), de todo el camino de vuelta fue el más difícil ya que el calor, e sol y el pavimento, en un caminata no es para nada una buena combinación, en más de una vez me pare para tomas aire y algo de agua, llego un momento tal que solo quedamos 3 rezagados (una amiga, el bombero que me había ayudado y yo), nos costó mucho esfuerzo y tiempo para llegar y si recuerdo bien estábamos en el pueblo a eso de la 1 pm, por lo que no teníamos tiempo para descansar ya que ese mismo día nos debíamos devolver, descansamos en el transcurso que de viaje del carrito nos llevó devuelta hasta Carora, pero al llegar tarde al terminal resulto que el terminal de Carora estaba cerrado y ya eran las 4 pm y nos quedamos varados esperando a ver cómo resolver, a rato largo conseguimos un micro bus con el que negociamos el pasaje para que nos dejara devuelta al terminar de que habíamos partido y nos pudimos ir (incluso con aire acondicionado y música).
When we got to the moment where the mountains converged, we were left fucking uphill, but it was paved (it was already near noon), of all the way back it was the most difficult since the heat, the sun and the pavement, in a The walk is not a good combination at all, more than once I stopped to take a breath and some water, there came a moment such that there were only 3 left behind (a friend, the firefighter who had helped me and I), it cost us a lot effort and time to get there and if I remember correctly we were in town at about 1 pm, so we did not have time to rest since that same day we had to return, we rested during the trip that the cart took us back to Carora, but when arriving late to the terminal it turned out that the Carora terminal was closed and it was already 4 pm and we were stranded waiting to see how to solve, in a long time we got a micro bus with which we negotiated the passage so that it would leave us back at the end of what e we had left and we were able to go (even with air conditioning and music).
Llegamos al terminal como a las 8 de la noche y al terminal y nos fuimos despidiendo poco a poco y unos amigos que Vivian cerca esperaron a que me fueran a buscar, nos despedimos. Al llegar a mi casa salude a mi mama y cenamos le conté un poco del viaje porque estaba muy agotado y quería descansar y al rato me fui a dormir.
We arrived at the terminal around 8 at night and at the terminal and we said goodbye little by little and some friends who lived nearby waited for them to come and look for me, we said goodbye. When I got home I said hello to my mother and we had dinner. I told her a little about the trip because I was very exhausted and wanted to rest and after a while I went to sleep.
