Hola, mi gente de Hive,
Una vez más aquí me encuentro, luego de una semanita un poco ajetreada para seguir contándoles un poco más acerca de mi rutina personal. En este caso, sobre mi niña más chiquita, la mayor causa de orgullo para mi corazón.
Here I am once again, after a little busy week to continue telling you a little more about my personal routine. In this case, about my youngest girl, the biggest source of pride for my heart.
Bueno, esa niña empezó hoy clases. Hoy lunes 25 de octubre, después de 19 largos meses, vuelven a clases presenciales nuestros niños venezolanos. Al llevar a mi niña al primer día de clases, en el primer grado de educación básica, siento una mezcla de sensaciones y emociones.
Well, that girl started classes today. Today, Monday, October 25, after 19 long months, our Venezuelan children return to face-to-face classes. When taking my girl to the first day of school, in the first grade of elementary education, I feel a mixture of sensations and emotions.
Por una parte, la ilusión de todo padre al ver que su bebé ya pasó de la etapa de juegos y recreación a una más formal donde se supone obtendrá las bases para desenvolverse efectivamente en las diferentes asignaturas y temáticas educativas. Pero por otro lado, atendiendo a la lógica, la realidad de la educación venezolana me dice que se encontrará con numerosos contratiempos.
On the one hand, the illusion of every parent when seeing that their baby has already passed from the stage of games and recreation to a more formal one where it is assumed that they will obtain the bases to function effectively in the different educational subjects and themes. But on the other hand, according to logic, the reality of Venezuelan education tells me that it will encounter numerous setbacks.
Por ejemplo, una escuela donde el encontrarse con un maestro de alto nivel de profesionalismo y motivación es más difícil que ganarse la lotería (razones tienen de sobras los buenos maestros para estar desmotivados). La mayoría de los excelentes docentes han emigrado o se dedican a otros menesteres procurando el bienestar económico de sus familias. Sus lugares han sido ocupados (en buena parte) por personas negligentes o de dudosa formación, pero que han sido muy diligentes a la hora de profesar su devoción por el partido político del gobierno.
For example, a school where finding a teacher with a high level of professionalism and motivation is more difficult than winning the lottery (good teachers have plenty of reasons to be unmotivated). Most of the best trained teachers have emigrated or are engaged in other tasks seeking the economic well-being of their families. Their places have been occupied (to a large extent) by negligent or dubious individuals, but who have been very diligent in professing their devotion to the government's political party.
Así, ya desde hace muchísimos años se desarrolla la educación en Venezuela, sumado al deterioro de los ambientes o planta física debido al abandono por la pandemia. Todos sabemos que para que nuestros hijos puedan optar por una educación decente, debemos tener mucho dinero para costear una educación privada o dedicarnos nosotros mismos a esas tareas.
This is how education has been developed in Venezuela for many years. Add to that the deterioration of the environments or physical infrastructure due to abandonment by the pandemic. We all know that in order for our children to be able to opt for a decent education, we must have a lot of money to pay for a private education or dedicate ourselves to those tasks.
Y es que en la mayoría de las escuelas públicas ni siquiera hay agua para que nuestros niños usen los baños, o que gocen de un filtro para mitigar la sed luego del recreo, o simplemente durante la jornada escolar normal, ya que la temperatura es considerablemente alta por esta época del año.
In most public schools there is not even water for our children to use the bathrooms, or to enjoy a fresh fountain to quench their thirst after recess, or simply during the normal school day, since the temperature is considerably high for this time of the year.
Sin embargo, hoy, al ver los ojos inocentes de mi niña de 5 años, de una niña ávida por disfrutar de la vida en el ambiente escolar; una niña que no ha tenido más maestros que papá y mamá, este regreso a clase se muestra como una esperanza; una emoción muy grande por hacer nuevos amigos, por tratar de socializar dentro de una nueva normalidad a la cual nos habituó la pandemia, por conocer plenamente ese lugar llamado escuela que como ya ha escuchado tantas veces en sus fantasiosos oídos, es el lugar donde comienzan los sueños.
However, today, seeing the innocent eyes of my 5-year-old girl, a girl eager to enjoy life in the school environment; a girl who has not had more teachers than father and mother, this return to class looks to me like hope; a very great emotion to make new friends, to try to socialize within a new "normal" the pandemic made us get used to, to fully know that place called school that, as you have heard so many times in her fancy ears, is the place where Dreams begin.

Que triste escucharte así, feliz por saber que tu pequeña va creciendo y empieza una nueva etapa, pero preocupada por la situación de los docentes, que quizás no son los idóneos para brindar una excelente formación. Lo que puedes hacer, es intentar reforzar lo que vaya aprendiendo en casa, tu pequeña es muy inteligente y seguramente aprenderá todo y hasta más.
Claro que sí ella está súper avanzada para ese nivel pero lo que me gustaría es una escuela de calidad donde tuviera muchas opciones que despertarán su imaginación de niña, educación de primer nivel para metas muy altas.
I can't blame you for having mixed feelings. I feel the same about the whole system. I don't want to imagine if I had kids at elementary level. Maybe this disaster will pave the way for more homeschooling. That would be esier thn having the system fixed under the current regime
Yeah, but there aré certain tools wey need to provide children with a quality educación at home, AND one of them Is access to internet
You are right. Most parents are obviously ill-equiped to homeschool, but at the early levels of elementary school, I think there are traditionaly tools that can actually work better than the internet.
Let's see how far this farse will go
