Because of the confusion of the past few days, I forgot to check when the sun would rise and so I missed the blue hour. At the time the sunrise itself is not really nice at the reservoir because the sun rises too far to the right behind the mountain, but I usually prefer to take photos during the blue hour before the sun rises anyway. | Wegen der Verwirrungen der letzten Tage habe ich vergessen nachzusehen, wann die Sonne aufgeht und so habe ich die Blaue Stunde leider versäumt. The city and streets were almost empty, only a few drivers were on the way to work. But also the walk by the lake and taking pictures were so different than usual - too many thoughts circled in my head and I just couldn't switch them off. That's why I then overlooked the cloud reflection in the lake, and when I noticed that the cloud looks better when it is fully visible, I didn't think about taking a long exposure ... ;) | Die Stadt und die Straßen waren fast leer, nur ein paar vereinzelte Autofahrer waren unterwegs zur Arbeit. Aber auch der Spaziergang am See und das Fotografieren waren so ganz anders als sonst - zu viele Gedanken kreisten in meinem Kopf und ließen sich einfach nicht abschalten. Daher habe ich dann auch die Wolkenspiegelung im See übersehen, und als ich bemerkt habe, dass die Wolke besser ausschaut, wenn sie ganz sichtbar ist, habe ich nicht daran gedacht, eine Langzeitbelichtung zu machen ... ;) |

All photos were shot with the Canon EOS R and one of these lenses: Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS II USM, Canon EF 16-35mm 1:4 L IS USM, SIGMA 105mm 1:2,8 DG MACRO HSM, SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM C. I used my Haida M10 filter system with a ND 1.8 (6 stops), a ND grad 0.9 and a CPL filter. I leave all EXIF and IPTC information stored in the pictures. |

Glad you got out @johannpiber! They just closed all the state parks and such in my state. Now I will have to head up in the hills to find my outdoor places. :)
Yes, I will try to get out as often as I can, but to be honest, I prefer to stay with my family and don't feel very good when I leave them alone, although they are safe - it's just a bad feeling.
Everything is closed here too, bus as you say, you can always go somewhere else and explore other or new places :)

I like the full silhouette shot better also. I'm distracted by the clouds and the bright cloud on the mountain to much away from the tree, and I think the tree is the subject of the photo.
I have always loved reflection shots, and that is a nice one of the cloud on the water. Nice thing about taking pictures, you can get out for a little bit, avoid people and then go home and not worry to much about the virus.
The bright cloud is about where the sun was coming up a few minutes later. This is why I left the cloud there, but you are completely right and also about the little cloud on the left side. I wanted to make a square crop at first, but then I preferred the photo with the blue sky above ;)
This reservoir is well visited by many people, but not on the path where I always go. I can count the people on one hand, which I have met there in there in the past year - this is a very safe place for a walk and then I need to go home to my family anyway :)

I hope you are still alright - I didn't want to watch any news today and my motivation is quite down. I never would have thought that I'd prefer to go to work than stay at home ;)
Tomorrow I'll visit my parents and bring them some food and other things they need. Well, I won't get very close to them, just give them the goods and talk from a safe distance ... that's really weird, but maybe I'll make a little forest walk.

I have just come back home - no walk because it was really weird to not go inside the house and have to talk outside, but it is neccessarry, my mum is 79 and my dad 81 and he also has an artificial heart valve.
So I just drove back home after a few minutes and made some shots from the roadside.
Ohh yeah the news is only getting worse each day and I suspect will do for another week at least, and it is very draining on our emotions for sure, but we will get through this stronger than ever ;)
I think this Engage app is a bit confused now, because it has just shown over 100 older comments and I had to click quite a while to get rid of them ;)
I would rather say another month instead of week, but you are very right - this will make us stronger than before 👍🙂

Great shots as always Johann. I’m glad you are getting out a bit with all this self-isolating. People are going a bit stir-crazy. It’s been a week Monday that Hubster and I have been in the house. It would be nicer when the snow finally goes and then I could go out and work at the flower garden or walk through the forest.

I thought during this week at home I would do many things, make photography experiments, clean up and such, but I am so demotivated. This was my only walk since last Friday, but tomorrow I'll drive about 130 kilometers to my parents because they need some things. Maybe I'll make a walk there in the woods ... we don't have any snow, so I can go where I want ;)

Howdy today sir johannpiber! That sounds nice, have you ever been tempted to go and push that tree upright so it is straight up and down? lol.
Such a straight tree is not interesting my friend, and I don't think I would photograph it. A gnarly and crooked tree has much more personality and looks much more interesting in my eyes.
But I would be too weak too and wouldn't be able to push that tree upright - I think a well trained man like you should come over here and try it. But if we don't like the tree then you have to push it back to it's old position, of course ;) lol
lol...if I straightened the tree up and we didn't like the way it looked I'd have to bend it back over. lol. I agree about the personality thing. Kinda like humans.
That's right - gnarly old humans look more interesting too ;) lol
