Escribo este modesto post en honor a Hipatia de Alejandría, quien fuera, pese al halo de imprecisión histórica que la sigue cubriendo, una de las mujeres fundadoras en la Antigüedad del valor de su sexo y género en la cultura, como acervo y búsqueda del conocimiento. Según algunos datos, su muerte hubiese ocurrido en marzo de 415 o 416 d.C.
I write this modest post in honor of Hipatia of Alexandria, who was, despite the halo of historical inaccuracy that still covers her, one of the founding women in antiquity of the value of their sex and gender in culture, as a heritage and pursuit of knowledge. According to some data, her death would have occurred in March 415 or 416 AD.
Particularmente, quiero resaltar su relación con ese monumento del valor fundamental del conocimiento y la tradición cultural que fue la Biblioteca de Alejandría, el gran reservorio y referencia del atesoramiento antiguo del saber al que su nombre está indisolublemente relacionado.
In particular, I would like to highlight its relationship with that monument of the fundamental value of knowledge and cultural tradition that was the Library of Alexandria, the great reservoir and reference of the ancient treasury of knowledge to which its name is inextricably linked.

Como se puede ver en la referencia arriba indicada, Hipatia se dedicó a investigar y ahondar en el conocimiento de la filosofía, la matemática, la astronomía, la geometría, la física, entre otras áreas del saber.
Lamentablemente, sus textos no se conservaron; fueron destruidos, en su mayoría. Se saben de ellos por el que fuera su discípulo, Sirenio de Cirene, según lo conocido.
En primer lugar, publico este post por lo que ella significa en sí misma como figura histórica, y, en segundo lugar, atendiendo a la horrorosa suerte que le tocó a consecuencia de los errores y deformaciones humanas que hoy siguen repitiéndose, como la misoginia y el fanatismo religioso.
La microficción la elaboré imaginando un diálogo entre Hipatia y su exdíscipulo Serenio de Cirene próximo al asesinato de ella.
As can be seen in the above reference, Hypatia dedicated herself to research and delve into the knowledge of philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, geometry, physics, among other areas of knowledge.
Unfortunately, her texts were not preserved; they were mostly destroyed. They are known by his disciple, Sirenius of Cyrene, as far as is known.
In the first place, I publish this post because of her significance as a historical figure, and, secondly, because of the horrendous fate that befell her as a result of human errors and deformations that continue to be repeated today, such as misogyny and religious fanaticism.
I elaborated the microfiction by imagining a dialogue between Hypatia and her ex-disciple Serenius of Cyrene close to her murder.
-No podré estar tranquila, Serenio, si la Biblioteca no está amparada por el prefecto Orestes y el patriarca Cirilo. Está expuesta a muchas amenazas por parte de los fanáticos cristianos. Me cuesta tanto creer que se pueda ser enemigo del pensamiento y el conocimiento. Y tú, más que nadie, lo sabes, apreciado Serenio, que fuiste mi dilecto alumno.
-Sí, lo sé y comparto tu preocupación, maestra Hipatia. Pero también me inquieta al extremo tu suerte en toda esta atmósfera de confrontaciones religiosas, de guerras intestinas, de intolerancia. Es incomprensible que te tachen de pagana, tú que has sabido acoger tanto a paganos como a cristianos en tu labor de enseñanza.
-Pero no hay nada peor que la ignorancia, la cual, mezclada con el afán de poder, puede dar lugar a los más atroces actos de intolerancia. Entonces, la investigación y el conocimiento del universo y de sus leyes y claves puede llegar a ser visto como paganismo.
-Por eso precisamente debes cuidarte al máximo, mi cara Hipatia. Parece que en la masa de cristianos que dicen seguir al patriarca hierve la más oprobiosa insolencia propia del fanatismo. Y pueden ser capaces de todo. En ti han puesto sus ojos de odio.
-No solo se rechazan las antiguas y sabias ciencias y sus actuales búsquedas, sino, además, parece haber anidado en sus desalmados corazones un desprecio hacia mí como mujer. El dios cristiano o los dioses helénicos nos acompañen.
-I will not be able to rest assured, Serenius, if the Library is not protected by the prefect Orestes and the patriarch Cyril. It is exposed to many threats from Christian fanatics. I find it so hard to believe that one can be an enemy of thought and knowledge. And you, more than anyone else, know it, dear Serenius, who was my beloved pupil.
-Yes, I know, and I share your concern, Master Hypatia. But I am also extremely worried about your fate in all this atmosphere of religious confrontations, of intestine wars, of intolerance. It is incomprehensible that you are branded as a pagan, you who have been able to welcome both pagans and Christians in your teaching work.
-But there is nothing worse than ignorance, which, mixed with the lust for power, can give rise to the most atrocious acts of intolerance. So, research and knowledge of the universe and its laws and keys can come to be seen as paganism.
-That is precisely why you must take the utmost care, my expensive Hypatia. It seems that in the mass of Christians who claim to follow the patriarch boils the most opprobrious insolence of fanaticism. And they can be capable of anything. On you they have set their hateful eyes.
-Not only do they reject the ancient and wise sciences and their present pursuits, but, moreover, there seems to have nested in their heartless hearts a contempt for me as a woman. May the Christian god or the Hellenic gods be with us.

¡Fantástico! Estimado @josemalave, Hipatia es uno de los personajes de la antigüedad que más ha llamado mi atención. Cómo bien ud expresa ha sido muy lamentable el modo en el cual se da su ocaso y conservar tan poco de ella, por no decir casi nada es entristecedor.
Es horrible como el fanatismo puede causar tanto daño, como decía Zambrano: "Todo extremismo destruye lo que afirma"
Una de las cosas que más lamento de la historia es el destino que tuvo la Biblioteca de Alejandría. Y con respecto al diálogo que Ud. Ha creado, me ha cautivado. Darle voz a quien el fanatismo en la historia cruentamente calló es algo bello, virtuoso sin duda. Leí la conversación de Hipatia y su estudiante con sumo detenimiento y intentando acoger en mi espíritu la voz de Hipatia.

Ella es una de las grandes referentes de la libertad de la mujer.
Para resaltar la inteligencia femenina no se puede mantener oculta a la gran Hipatia.
