Do we really know what music is?

Music is an abstract art, full of ups and downs, full of joy and sadness, full of hate and love, but do we really know what its definition is and how important it is for our lives?
From the beginning of humanity, music has accompanied us, since we went out into the street until we went to sleep, you just have to know how to build it. Hitting a table is simple noise, but if we add a couple of strokes and play it repeatedly it becomes a rhythm, if we add a melody to this intentionally (singing or any melodic or harmonic instrument) already we have music. So, looking at it from an objective definition "music is the combination of sounds with time and silence", but human beings are more complex than that definition.

According to Aristotle (Philosopher - Politician), “music is a fundamental part of the education of citizens. Music provokes or moderates passions, and affects morale. Building character through music is necessary for the polis (ancient Greek cities), since political stability depends on the moral stability of citizens. ”

According to Jimmy Hendrix, (Musician), “Music is something spiritual. You can hypnotize people with music and when you have them at their weakest point, you can preach to your subconscious what you want to tell them. "

So, if we see it in a more subjective way, music is everything for us, a world without music would be an incomplete world, since we use music for everything; to study, to relax, to have fun, for movies, for series ... Can you imagine what a movie like Disney's Coco would be like or any other movie like Indiana Jones or Star Wars without its soundtrack? This sometimes ends up being for many a hymn in their lives. Or let's go to the cartoons, can you imagine Gravity Falls, Phineas and Ferb or The Simpsons without their very particular and recognized intros? the world would not look or work the same way. Music is a way of expressing what we feel, it is a way of letting off steam, it is how we interpret and make others see our lives, music is a universal language that can be understood anywhere in the world, music is history, music is poetry, music is mathematical, music is art, music is science, music is life.

Now that we have music defined both objectively and subjective, then ... why is it so important?
Well, music while we have been looking at its definition also in an indirect way, we see its importance, there are different pedagogical methods that help human growth and formation thanks to music, learning becomes more attractive or more interesting if more methods are used. didactic and among those music can be incorporated in practically most. Listening to music helps the brain to encode rhythm, melody and harmony which makes our mind work more frequently, however playing an instrument makes our brain work much more than doing any other activity.

As José Manuel Zapata (Singer) says, “music improves empathy, solves speech problems as with stuttering, helps people to relate to each other and in children it happens exactly the same. If I were a minister, I would implement music as fundamental, especially at the initial ages of children, because it is forming the human being and this type of teaching is very important. ”

(Albert Einstein).

Even great personalities like Albert Einstein or people important to humanity like Pythagoras saw music as important to science, mathematics or physics.

“Music fills my dreams by day. I can see my life in terms of music and I get a lot of my joy out of it. ” (Albert Einstein).

A film that I really like and reflects music in a very interesting way is that of director Kirsten Sheridan titled “August Rush”. The film is about the story of a young musical prodigy, abandoned by his grandfather at birth, and the quest he sets out to find his parents. I really recommend it and enjoy it as much as I do.

To conclude, we can see that music is born, lives and dies with us. And although sometimes we don't want to, he always accompanies us at work, at meetings or parties, and at home. She is always present in our community and our lives, you just have to know how to listen and appreciate her.
