Hoy quisiera contar un breve resumen de mi corta experiencia como músico dentro de mi país y tal vez dar un par de consejos para las futuras generaciones o para el que quiera empezar con algún instrumento musical.
Desde pequeño siempre me hablaron de música, veía como llegaban músicos a mi casa y tocaban unas largas horas sin parar, me enamoré increíblemente de este arte.
Entre los 14 y 15 años de edad empecé a estudiar en la “J.A Román Valecillos”, la única institución cerca de mí que sacaba el bachiller en artes mención música. Fue un trabajo duro pero logré graduarme y agradezco al apoyo de mis padres por tenerme paciencia y fe.
Cuando entré a la universidad me di cuenta que necesitaba buscar la manera de ganar dinero haciendo lo que me gusta, pero con la situación que vivimos actualmente es algo complicado mas no imposible, ahí fue cuando me decidí por fin y junto con unos amigos creamos “Planta Baja” una agrupación musical que tenía un sueño, llegar a todas las personas del mundo con nuestra música. Pasaron muchas cosas que nos hizo tener ciertos cambios dentro de la agrupación y actualmente tenemos otro nombre y nuevos integrantes, sin embargo, seguimos teniendo el mismo pensamiento y siempre buscaremos llenar el alma de las personas con nuestra música. Para una banda de música alternativa es algo complicado tener buenos ingresos, y más en la región en la que vivimos, aun así existen otros métodos para poder generar dinero y poco a poco ir invirtiendo para tener mejores equipos, una mejor calidad de sonido y quien sabe hasta llegar a producir un álbum en casa.
Today I would like to tell a brief summary of my short experience as a musician within my country and perhaps give a couple of tips for future generations or for those who want to start with a musical instrument.
Since I was little they always talked to me about music, I saw how musicians came to my house and played long hours without stopping, I fell incredibly in love with this art.
Between the ages of 14 and 15 I started studying at the "J.A Román Valecillos", the only institution near me that had a bachelor of arts with a mention in music. It was hard work but I managed to graduate and I thank the support of my parents for having patience and faith.
When I entered university I realized that I needed to find a way to earn money doing what I like, but with the situation we currently live in it is somewhat complicated but not impossible, that's when I finally decided and together with some friends we created " Planta Baja ”a musical group that had a dream, to reach all the people of the world with our music. Many things happened that made us have certain changes within the group and currently we have another name and new members, however, we continue to have the same thought and we will always seek to fill people's souls with our music. For an alternative music band it is somewhat difficult to have a good income, and more in the region in which we live, even so there are other methods to generate money and gradually invest to have better equipment, better sound quality and who he knows how to produce an album at home.

¿Pero entonces, a que quiero llegar con todo esto? Bueno, el título del post es “qué hacer si eres un músico en Venezuela”, así que en base a mi experiencia resumida en este post les daré algunos consejos.
1.Tener buen conocimiento:
El ser un músico con un nivel bajo no te sirve si quieres llegar a ganar dinero, debido a que nadie te contrataría para alguna presentación y tus oportunidades de ingreso serian bajas. Estudia las partituras, aprende a leer a primera vista, Practicar tu instrumento, entrenar tu oído, son algunas de las cosas que como mínimo debes proponerte a hacer. Sé exigente contigo mismo y busca superarte a ti mismo(a).
2.Ser flexible:
A veces nos cohibimos un poco por no poder tocar el género musical que es de nuestro agrado, pero si pensamos de esta manera no tendremos muchas oportunidades y nunca saldremos de nuestra zona de confort. La música bailable no es algo que yo escuche todos los días, pero si salé alguna presentación y me toca cantar merengue me preparo y lo hago. Gracias a esto he aprendido a apreciar el nivel de complejidad de cada género y eso es importante para un músico.
3.Soy un músico/artista digital:
Este punto es más para los que están comenzando en el mundo digital. Si aún no sabes cómo promocionar tu música de forma digital lo puedes hacer por medio de algo que me encanta muchísimo que se llama “Distribuidora digital” con esto podrás poner tu música en todas partes y ya lo que quedaría es que te hagas publicidad a ti mismo. Eso sí, busca una distribuidora que te beneficie, existen distribuidoras tanto gratuitas como pagas, lo demás te lo dejo a ti mi amigo(a).
4.Buscar una segunda fuente de ingreso:
Al principio puede llegar a ser complicado ganar dinero con la música, por eso es bueno tener una trabajo temporal o alguna forma alterna de generar dinero para que puedas invertirlo en tus instrumentos, o accesorios de los mimos, o equipos para que tengas un mejor sonido mientras se forma tu reputación. Créeme que valdrá la pena.
5.Ser constante:
Esto es muy importante, si eres constante en lo que haces el esfuerzo duro te dará buenos frutos. No decaigas, sigue luchando que cada vez estas más cerca de lo que quieres, solo debes dedicarte a pesar de las adversidades.
6.Conocer buenos músicos de tu localidad:
Si tienes suerte podrás encontrar personas que ya tienen mayor experiencia en el campo laboral musical y te puedan ayudar a conseguir algunas presentaciones o encontrar algún estudio, artista, comunidad que necesite de tus servicios musicales.
7.Emigrar:
Puede ser algo chistoso el dar este consejo pero no me mal interpreten. Actualmente la economía de Venezuela es muy inestable entonces si tienes una buena oportunidad de irte del país para poder generar ingresos e invertirlos en ti y en tu comunidad aprovéchela, pero no abandones el lugar de donde viniste. Conoce, vive, experimenta, date a conocer pero siempre con ganas de algún día volver y hacer de tu región un lugar mejor con tú música.
But then, what do I want to get to with all this? Well, the title of the post is "what to do if you are a musician in Venezuela", so based on my experience summarized in this post I will give you some advice.
Have good knowledge:
Being a musician with a low level does not help you if you want to earn money, because nobody would hire you for a presentation and your income opportunities would be low. Study the scores, learn to read at first sight, Practice your instrument, train your ear, are some of the things that you should at least propose to do. Be demanding of yourself and seek to outdo yourself.Be flexible:
Sometimes we feel a little self-conscious about not being able to play the musical genre that we like, but if we think this way we won't have many opportunities and we will never leave our comfort zone. Dance music is not something I listen to every day, but if I have a presentation and I have to sing meringue I prepare and do it. Thanks to this I have learned to appreciate the level of complexity of each genre and that is important for a musician.I am a musician / digital artist:
This point is more for those who are starting in the digital world. If you still do not know how to promote your music digitally, you can do it through something that I really love called “Digital Distributor”, with this you can put your music everywhere and what would be left is for you to advertise to yourself same. Of course, look for a distributor that benefits you, there are both free and paid distributors, the rest I leave it to you my friend (a).Find a second source of income:
At first it can be difficult to earn money with music, so it is good to have a temporary job or some alternative way of generating money so that you can invest it in your instruments, or accessories for mimes, or equipment so that you have a better sound while your reputation is built. Believe me it will be worth it.Be consistent:
This is very important, if you are constant in what you do, hard effort will pay off. Do not falter, keep fighting that you are getting closer to what you want, you just have to dedicate yourself despite the adversities.Get to know good musicians in your area:
If you are lucky you will be able to find people who already have more experience in the musical labor field and can help you get some presentations or find a studio, artist, community that needs your musical services.Emigrate:
It may be a bit funny to give this advice but don't get me wrong. Currently the Venezuelan economy is very unstable so if you have a good opportunity to leave the country to be able to generate income and invest it in yourself and in your community take advantage of it, but do not leave the place where you came from. Get to know, live, experiment, get to know yourself but
