This is my entry for #thaiphotocontest74 hosted by @thaiteam. The other day I felt the need for a nice bit of chocolate cake or something with chocolate. This might be because I had not enough sleep for days. I noticed that whenever I was lacking enough sleep, my brain cried out for dark chocolate or double choc cake. But most shops sell really big slice of chocolate cakes at crazy prices. I would not be able to finish the whole big piece and often these are very sweet and the butter inside turned out to be palm oil. Life is a bit difficult as I have to economise and satisfy my bodily need at the same time.
So, I was very pleased to discover a cake shop which sells small pieces of cakes at very cheap price. The size of the cake is tiny but enough to allow for two bites so that buyers could decide whether to buy this type of cake in the future or to order a regular slice. The small piece of ‘tasting’ cake costs 10 baht each (about 4 cents!). If you buy 10 pieces, you’ll get one bonus piece. I could never buy 10 pieces as I tend to stick to the same old chocolate cake!
I don’t think this shop could make any profit from selling small ‘tasting’ size cakes; the cost of packaging and the staff standing there offering service would just eat up any tiny profit margin. I had tried the double choc chiffon which was a regular size cake on special offer. The Japanese pandan chiffon was very nice and creamy. But, in the end I settled for the bitter chocolate custard style cake. Only 10 baht or 4 cents and my brain started to wake up with all the energy to pursue my curation task of the day!
เวลาที่เรานอนไม่พอหรืออดนอนมาหลายวันติดต่อกัน เราจะอยากกินช็อกโกแลตขมๆ หรือขนมเค้กช็อกโกแลตแบบเข้มข้นขึ้นมาทันที เราก็ไม่อยากเสียเงินค่าขนมแพงมาก และอยากกินชิ้นเล็กๆให้หายอยากเท่านั้น ร้านขนมส่วนใหญ่มักทำขนมเค้กชิ้นใหญ่เพื่อจะขายได้แพงๆ เราเคยเจอแบบนี้หลายครั้งจนเข็ด เพราะชิ้นใหญ่มักจะไม่ค่อยอร่อย มีแต่น้ำตาลและเนยเทียม เรากินไม่กี่คำก็ต้องหยุด เพราะมันจะเลี่ยนมาก ทำให้เสียดายเงินและสงสารสุขภาพตนเอง เตอไขมันไม่อิ่มตัวแบบนั้นระบบภายในต้องทำงานหนักแน่นอน เราก็เลยดีใจมากที่ไปเจอร้านขนมที่ขายขนมเค้กชิ้นเล็กๆ ราคาแค่สิบบาท ถ้าซื้อสิบชิ้นมีแถมให้หนึ่งชิ้นด้วย เราก็เลนได้ลองชิมสองสามอัน แต่ก็ชอบขนมเค้กช็อกโกแลตที่นั่นมากที่สุด เพราะขมดีและเข้มข้นมาก
บางวันเขามีขมนเค้กแบบใหม่ๆ มาขายถูกๆแต่ก้อนโตเท่าเค้กปกติ เราก็ได้ลองทั้งเค้กใบเตยและชินหอนช็อกโกแลต อร่อยทั้งคู่ แตเราก็ต้องกลับมาหาเค้กช็อกโกแลตแบบขมๆเหมือนเดิม แต่เขามีเค้กพิเศษที่ราคามากกว่าสิบบาทด้วย พวกนี้มีส่วนประกอบราคาแพง เพิ่มเงินอีกนิดก็ได้กินขนมอร่อยๆคุ้มค่าแล้ว ของเราที่ชอบกินราคายี่สิบห้าบาท เขาใช้ช็อกโกแลตอย่างดี เราคิดว่าเขาคงไม่ได้กำไรจากการขายขนมชิ้นเล็กๆ แต่คงอยากให้คนชิมแล้วติดใจ เพื่อไปซื้อเค้กชิ้นใหญ่ราคาร้อยกว่าบาทนั่นเอง เราพอใจในการชิมเค้กเท่านั้น ถ้าให้กินจริงจัง เราคิดว่าไปกินข้าวผัดปูอร่อยๆ หรือข้าวยำปักษ์ใต้ดีกว่า ดีต่อสุขภาพจิตและสุขภาพร่างกายมาก สมองก็จะได้สารอาหารครบด้วย
There is also a very interesting menu on different kinds of coffee and cold drinks. The prices are beyond my comprehension as they are more expensive than a local PadThai dish! This nicely package drink has become a status symbols among teenagers on FB. I know a girl who felt the need to post a photo of herself with an expensive cold drink from fashionable brand every week, just to tell her friends that she was not poor! You will only catch me with my hot flask of Chinese tea or Earl Grey tea with cheap local Thai sweets in my bag!

Oh! You should treat yourself to a nice home made chocolate cake or something nice!! You need some comfort about the worsening situation on the virus!
People should take lots of vitaminsC,D3 and zinc to boost the immune system. Chaka tea is supposed to prevent you from getting the virus. Russian herbalists know about Chaka tea which is made from quite expensive mushroom!

Luckily in my country we have local herbs which can be taken once one get the new coronavirus; doctors had proven that this herb kill the virus straight away. But this should be taken within three days of infection for quick result!

This is well known local herbs used by Indians herbalists and Thais from ancient time. We take this to get rid of flu virus in a day or two. We always have these capsules at home and during travel. I have been taking this for over ten years; now my gardener and her neighbours all have this at home. It was sold out of all drug stores when the pandemic first arrived in Thailand. The new batch took two months to arrive in drug stores.
The doctor who did the experiment was keeping a very low profile as the drug lobbyists were not very pleased. The top civil servant had ordered huge amount of Remdesivir, without going through the normal procedure of public spending. Some doctors are getting very rich.
Thanks @kaminchan for this interesting information .Certain plants do provide the ingredients to cure our diseases. The ancients knew this but it is mainly lost today as taking a pill is what is suggested.
