Arruinando tela también se aprende

By ruining fabric you also learn

Hello, my cute bees 🐝 from the hive, I hope you are well, I am here reappearing after being broken. Thank God it was nothing serious and I have already activated myself to show you my sewing projects.

Yesterday, as I already felt very good, I entered my small workshop. I had so much to do that I didn't even know where to start and after having 20 minutes of ordering I got myself a fabric I bought to make some shirts for my kids.

I told them that I had never been afraid to make them because I was afraid of damaging the fabric and that's what happened.

How terrible that I damaged the piece but today I will try to save it, it wasn't very serious either, but my son didn't like the result.

They say that by damaging you learn and I have already learned. I hope you appreciate my tutorial and can give me advice on how to improve the neck of future flannels.

Tela - Fabric

Patrones

Moulds

To get the right patterns for this piece, I helped myself with an old flannel from my son.

I guided myself through the tutorials I had seen and managed to get it out of cardboard and then transferred it onto the fabric.

When we have the molds ready we only have to start taking out the pieces in the fabric.

It would be 1 front piece, 1 back piece, 2 sleeves and the collar.

The first thing I did was to put a small strip of the same fabric on the sleeves to make it look more elegant.

First I passed it through the OVERLOCK machine and then through the straight machine.

)

After having the two sleeves ready I continued with the collar.

Remember this is my first flannel and this is where I made my mistake.

I just cut a strip of fabric and sewed it all over the collar, and then I realized that this was the wrong way to go.

The right way is to close the piece at the shoulders, measure the neck and reduce 1 cm to the strip before placing it. This will make it perfect (I know for my next flannel)

At this point I was very frustrated, but I had to go on and try to save the piece.

I continued placing the sleeves to close it with straight stitching on the sides.

I flattened the collar as much as I could but this gave it a girlish flannel look.

I was satisfied because apart from the collar, the rest fit well. In fact, I thought I couldn't get the sleeves off, but I did. It is one more learning experience for me.

We learn from everything we do, and often we are the only one who sees the small things we could have made better :)
