Greetings friends of HIVE, today hopefully I will share with all of you the calamity that is experienced in Venezuela on a daily basis due to the poor service provided by many of the Internet operators.
Desde algunos meses atrás me vi en la necesidad de adquirir el servicio de Internet por medio de una empresa de televisión por cable, la cual me ofrecía el Internet ilimitado por un costo de 20$ al mes, la velocidad de mi Internet es muy lenta, unos 150 kilobites por segundos.
Some months ago I saw the need to acquire Internet service through a cable television company, which offered me unlimited Internet for a cost of $ 20 per month, my Internet speed is very slow, about 150 kilobits per second.
Según información recolectada en mi investigación, la empresa de medición de velocidad Ookla, el promedio de la velocidad de internet en Venezuela es el más bajo de los países sur Americanos. Por otra parte, el estudio de Internet World Stats (IWS), asegura que la velocidad promedia en 1.7 megabits por segundos, debajo de Bolivia, con 1.8 mbps, y Paraguay con 3.5 mbps.
El plan que tengo en estos momentos no llega ni a 1mbps, lo que me indica claramente que mi Internet siempre estará lento, más aún cuando mis hijos se conectan a estudiar o simplemente a socializar por sus redes.
According to information collected in my research, the speed measurement company Ookla, the average internet speed in Venezuela is the lowest of the South American countries. On the other hand, the Internet World Stats (IWS) study ensures that the average speed is 1.7 megabits per second, below Bolivia, with 1.8 mbps, and Paraguay with 3.5 mbps.
The plan that I have at the moment does not even reach 1mbps, which clearly indicates that my Internet will always be slow, even more so when my children connect to study or simply socialize through their networks.
Para entender mejor mi sufrimiento con el internet les compartiré los métodos del mundo y las redes ya que con mucha frecuencia puede ser confusa y, en algunos casos, llevar a errores. Cuando vamos a contratar una tarifa de fibra que nos ofrece 600 Mbps de velocidad, es posible que pensemos que seremos capaces de descargar 600 MB de datos en un segundo, pero nada más lejos de la realidad. ¿Qué sucede realmente? Que en el primer caso hablamos de megabits y en el segundo de megabytes. El primero se pronuncia "megabit" y el segundo "megabait" y la diferencia entre ambas es sustancial. Ambos términos sirven para medir lo que pesa un archivo, pero un megabit (Mb) es ocho veces más pequeño que un megabyte (MB). Por eso, cuando descargamos un archivo de 100 MB a 100 Mb/s (o Mbps) no tardamos un segundo, sino algo más.

Mientras los venezolanos padecemos de un mal Internet, en otros paises ya se cuenta con una velocidad de 300mbs, como lo es España.
La velocidad es tan importante en el internet es de gran importancia, ya que esta en primer lugar nos permite rentabilizar nuestro tiempo de espera.

Como podrán darse cuenta, descargar un archivo de 100 MB a una velocidad de 100 Mbps no toma un segundo, sino ocho segundos, porque realmente estamos descargando 12,5 megabytes por segundo. Eso en condiciones óptimas, claro está. Debido a que la velocidad de la red no es completamente estable en mi país Venezuela, el tiempo es mayor debido a que este oscilará en función de la situación del Internet.
Finalmente me despido esperando que el servicio de Internet mejore, para así poder conectarme con más frecuencia.
As you can see, downloading a 100 MB file at a speed of 100 Mbps does not take a second, but eight seconds, because we are actually downloading 12.5 megabytes per second.
