Some Relevant Information We Weed To Know About Cough, How It Should Be Treated And Some Natural Remedies

in GEMS3 years ago

I remember when I get a cough I have it with me for a very long time, perhaps more than a month. And that really is disturbing. I used to have that when there was still no pandemic. But this time when I get to see symptoms I really had to do things that could stop it at its early stage and what are those things that I do? I will share it here.

Having a cough a long time ago and having it this time has a different impact already. Since we are still in the midst of the pandemic and cough is one of the prevailing symptoms so we get to worry much about the situation. While it may be just a simple allergy or some other ordinary reason, we tend to think it might be COVID19 so we become paranoid most of the time.

There are a lot of questions we used to have when we are suffering from cough. Like does cough contagious? I mean when there was no pandemic yet, does it be acquired if one in your household is having a cough? How long does it normally stay before it will be gone forever and a lot more.

This post aims to provide answers if not solutions to what we are thinking when we get a cough, I find it important for us to know some home remedies that could help us get rid of a cough without the need to go to the doctor.

According to emedicinehealth.com, a cough is an action the body takes to get rid of substances that are irritating to the air passages. It could be a common respiratory symptom that can be a result of several respiratory diseases. Normally cough is caused by bacteria or viruses.

What causes cough?

As I’ve mentioned above it may be caused either by pathogenic bacteria or viruses. It can be classified into two main types, first is the infectious, and the second is noninfectious.

What do we mean by that?

When we say infectious, it involves upper respiratory infections associated with common colds, sinus infections, and acute bronchitis. It is normally treated with antibiotics which need to be prescribed by a doctor.

On the other hand, noninfectious include chronic bronchitis, asthma which is very common to most people, and environmental allergies.

I used to think that when I get a cough it is because of allergies. Exposure to pollution or dust could trigger involuntary cough, you cannot control it, and seems to attack you when you least expect it or when you are in public which could lead you to an embarrassing situation.

So how we get rid of cough?

Personally, and I think it has been advised by doctors to take Vitamin C regularly. It could help boost our immune system such that whenever we are exposed to bacteria or viruses that cause cough we are already protected. I mean we don’t easily get hold of those bacteria because our body cells won’t allow them to enter into our system.

I have been a science teacher in the past and whenever we get to these kinds of topics, I make sure that I could share some practical tips with my students.

Anyhow have you heard about Smoker’s cough? This is important to know and would somehow be a guide to those smokers to slowly stop smoking. This kind of cough will never be healed if one continues to smoke and will subside and eventually be out of your system if you stop smoking.

This means that smoking is really hazardous to our health so if you are smoking right now or have been smoking better do your best to quit because it could not only cause you to cough but it will also damage some of your internal organs especially your lungs.

Home Remedy

There are a lot of ways that we could actually do at home to get rid of cough and one of them is to perform saltwater steam or steam inhalation and personally, I find it very effective. Of course, it could not cure coronavirus but at least one way or another it could prevent at least.

Water therapy also helps, drinking a lot of water will not only soothes the scratch of a cough but also keeps you hydrated.

Warm tea, liquid with honey, turmeric powder, black pepper are just a few of the home remedies that found to be effective in getting rid of cough. Although of course if symptoms persist, it is still best to consult a doctor. But in this time pf pandemic? I better do some effective home remedy than to go to a hospital where the probability of inflecting yourself with covid19 is high.

That’s all for now I hope you learn something from this post, thank you and God bless us all!
