Greetings guys, have a happy day. We continue visiting places in the end of the world, in Punta Arenas, Magallanes Region, this place is full of beautiful places to know, some with more stories than others, this time I will show you a little tour I did of some squares and monuments, is a good way to learn a little more about the history of Chile. In this brief photo session we will first see the Monument to the Croatian Immigrant, then we will move on to see the Monument to St. John Bosco, following the Santiago Violic Firefighter Square and finally ending at the Monument Captain Ignacio Carrera Pinto. Come with me to enjoy and contemplate a little more of this place, without saying more than begin.

Continuamos visitando lugares en el fin del mundo, en Punta Arenas, Región Magallanes, este lugar está lleno de sitios hermosos para conocer, algunos con más historias que otros, esta vez les mostrare un pequeño recorrido que hice de algunas plazas y monumentos, es una buena forma para conocer un poco más de la historia de Chile, En esta breve sesión de fotos conoceremos primeramente el Monumento al Inmigrante Croata, luego pasaremos a ver el Monumento a San Juan Bosco, siguiendo a la Plaza del Bombero Santiago Violic y finalmente terminando en el Monumento Capitán Ignacio Carrera Pinto. Acompáñenme a disfrutar y contemplar un poco más de este lugar, sin más que decir empecemos.
Croatian Immigrant Memorial / Monumento al Inmigrante Croata
We begin our visit by walking around the square of the Monument to the Croatian Immigrant, this square was erected in the Municipality of Punta Arenas in 1970, in commemoration of the Croatian immigrant families that arrived in the Region of Magallanes in the middle of the 19th century, this monument represents the Croatian family raising their arms to their descendants.
Comenzamos nuestra visita recorriendo la plaza del Monumento al Inmigrante Croata, esta plaza fue erigida en la Municipalidad de Punta Arenas en 1970, en conmemoración a las familias migrantes croatas que arribaron a la Región de Magallanes a mediados del siglo XIX, este monumento representa a la familia croata alzando los brazos a su descendencia.
Another monument on the square is a copper plate commemorating the Croatian Bomb Company on the occasion of its 100th anniversary.
En la plaza hay otro monumento una placa de cobre en conmemoración a la Compañía de bomba Croata, por motivo de su 100 aniversario.
The Croatian coat of arms, which was erected on 30 May 2000 to commemorate the first decade of the Croatian state, is a work by sculptor Wilhelm Meriño, made mainly of concrete.
El Escudo de Croacia, que fue erigido el 30 de mayo de 2000 para conmemorar la primera década del Estado croata, es una obra del escultor Guillermo Meriño, hecha principalmente de hormigón.
Monument to Saint John Bosco / Monumento a San Juan Bosco
Now we are heading to know the Monument to San Juan Bosco, it is a bronze sculpture, erected in commemoration of the arrival of the Salesian missionaries to Punta Arenas. The sculpture represents the work of education and evangelization of the Salesians in the region, promoted by Saint John Bosco, in this you can see a Salesian missionary with two children, one with western clothing and the other with indigenous clothing, to whom he provides shelter and service.
Ahora nos dirigimos a conocer el Monumento a San Juan Bosco, es una escultura de bronce, erigida en conmemoración de la llegada de los misioneros salesianos a Punta Arenas, La escultura representa la labor de educación y evangelización de los salesianos en la región, promovida por San Juan Bosco, en esta se puede observar a un misionero salesiano con dos niños, uno con vestimenta occidental y el otro con vestimenta indígena, a los cuales presta cobijo y servicio.
We also find murals, which represent the trajectory of Magellan and the work of the Salesians in the region.
También encontramos murales, que representan la trayectoria de Magallanes y la labor de los salesianos en la región.
Santiago Violic Firefighter Square / Plaza del Bombero Santiago Violic
We are now going to the Fireman's Square, there is a monument dedicated to the firemen of the region, it is a bronze sculpture of 2.6 meters high, the image represents a volunteer with a woman in his hands, who he is saving. On June 11, 1889, the first company in the region was founded. Due to a fire that occurred in the building of the Magallanes Civil Government in 1887, the city did not have a fire company.
Nos dirigimos ahora a la Plaza del bombero, en ella se encuentra un monumento dedicado a los bomberos de la región, es un escultura de bronce de 2,6 metros de alto, la imagen representa a un voluntario con una mujer en sus manos, a la que está salvando. El 11 de junio de 1889 se fundó la primera compañía en la región, debido a un incendio que ocurrió en el edificio de la Gobernación Civil Magallanes en 1887, la cuidad no poseía compañía de bomberos.
Although you can see a bright sun, the place is quite cold, about 5 degrees centigrade, it is better to go well sheltered to enjoy the place.
Aunque se ve un sol brillante, el lugar hace bastante frio, unos 5 grados centígrados, es mejor ir bien abrigados para poder disfrutar del lugar.
Captain Ignacio Carrera Pinto Monument / Monumento Capitán Ignacio Carrera Pinto
To end our tour of squares and monuments, we went to visit a place full of historical symbolism for Chile, the Monument Captain Ignacio Carrera Pinto and the flame of freedom, was inaugurated on July 10, 1982, on the occasion of the centenary of the combat of La Concepción, was a historical fact that frames the War of the Pacific between 1879 and 1883, is considered by military historiography as one of the bloodiest events of the War of the Pacific.
Para finalizar nuestro recorrido de plazas y monumentos, pasamos a visitar un lugar lleno de simbolismo histórico para Chile, el Monumento Capitán Ignacio Carrera Pinto y la llama de la libertad, fue inaugurada el 10 de julio de 1982, con motivo del centenario del combate de La Concepción, fue un hecho histórico que enmarca la Guerra del Pacifico entre los años 1879 a 1883, es considerado por la historiografía militar como uno de los sucesos más sangrientos de la Guerra del Pacífico.
Seventy-seven infantry soldiers of the Fourth Company of the 6th Battalion of Chacabuco Line, under the command of Captain Ignacio Carrera Pinto, died in the combat.
En el combate murieron los setenta y siete soldados de infantería de la Cuarta Compañía del Batallón 6º de Línea Chacabuco, al mando del capitán Ignacio Carrera Pinto
