Greetings and welcome dear readers of this prestigious platform, serve the present delivery to address a set of psychological processes that are activated with practices such as immersion in water, where the concept of immersion reflex allows us to explain, as a practice if you want current manages to awaken happiness in humans.

In this sense, it is necessary to assume that the immersion reflex is that which occurs in mammals and is oriented initially to a complex system of gas exchange between the inner space and pulmonary system which then results in an accumulation of oxygen, allowing the optimization of breathing to remain submerged for long periods of time without being affected by excessive pressure.

In the case of humans, we do not have the ability to spend much time submerged, however, the few seconds we manage to do so allows the effect of the immersion reflex to occur, although factors such as the type of water where the immersion occurs must be considered, according to specialists it should be in cold water at a temperature of 21 ° C, so that the colder the water the greater the immersion reflex generated.

Specialists assume that the one responsible for activating the immersion reflex effect is the trigenimal nerve, which is characterized by generating sensory and motor sensations, it is made up of somatic fibers responsible for pain and tactile sensations anterior to the tongue and connects sensorially to the visual, auditory, olfactory systems, among others.

In this sense, the practice of the immersion reflex manages to improve aspects such as:

1. The decrease in heart rate, which is generated with the consumption of oxygen and once underwater, the heart rate decreases in a range of 20 to 25%, this process achieves that oxygen permeates through the rest of the organs and oxygenate our blood more easily.

2. Once the pressure and heart rate decreases, psychological effects such as anxiety are reduced, so that we can generate an immediate state of calm.

3. Peripheral vaso-constriction is another of the benefits that can be awakened by the immersion reflex, since the capillaries are able to close in a controlled manner, keeping vital organs of the brain and heart active.

4. The contraction of the vessel is another of the benefits that improves the immersion process since the white and red blood cells are released, which facilitates the transfer of oxygen.

As we have noticed such a simple practice manages to awaken a large number of benefits in our body, not to mention the effects of satisfaction, joy and excitement that awakens at the psychological level, so I would like to know your opinion about the immersion reflex.
