Para iniciar este hermoso día quiero compartir con ustedes un post sobre mi linda planta de melón, la cual lleva un tiempo en mi patio y recientemente ha comenzado a dar sus frutos, aún falta para cosechar los melones pero, mientras tanto aquí les muestro el proceso de la planta y sus cuidados, espero que sea de su agrado y la información sea de utilidad.
To start this beautiful day I want to share with you a post about my beautiful melon plant, which has been in my yard for a while and has recently begun to bear fruit, there is still time to harvest the melons but, in the meantime, here I show you the process of the plant and its care, I hope you like it and the information is useful.
Ya habrán notado lo mucho que me gusta tener plantas y no me importa de qué tipo sean, ornamentales o frutales todas son bienvenidas a mi jardín y a todas las cuido por igual. Hace un tiempo, cuando no tenía nada sembrado aún se me ocurrió comenzar con melón, así que conseguí las semillas y me puse manos a la obra.
You will have already noticed how much I like having plants and I don't care what type they are, ornamental or fruit trees, they are all welcome in my garden and I take care of them all equally. Some time ago, when I had nothing planted, it still occurred to me to start with melon, so I got the seeds and got to work.
Al cabo de unos días ya habían comenzado a salir las plantitas y apenas tomaron fuerzas las trasplanté a tierra en un espacio amplio para que pudieran desarrollarse sin problemas.
After a few days the seedlings had already started to come out and as soon as they gained strength, I transplanted them to the ground in a wide space so that they could develop without problems.
Me mantuve monitoreándolas a diario y por más que lo intenté algo se las comía, probablemente algún insecto, por lo cual solo una planta logró sobrevivir a esta plaga, supongo que fue la más fuerte de todas y hasta el día de hoy sigue viva, hermosa y ya floreando. Es importante mencionar que el cultivo de melón es relativamente fácil, ya que no necesita de grandes cuidados y solo requiere de suficiente espacio para extenderse, mucho sol y poca agua.
I kept monitoring them daily and no matter how hard I tried, something ate them, probably some insect, for which only one plant managed to survive this plague, I suppose it was the strongest of all and to this day it is still alive, beautiful and already blooming. It is important to mention that melon cultivation is relatively easy, since it does not need great care and only requires enough space to spread, a lot of sun and little water.
La planta de melón debe ser plantada en suelo fértil y de buen drenaje para evitar el estancamiento de agua ya que apenas requiera poca de esta, durante su floración es capaz de portar flores tanto machos como hembras al mismo tiempo y es en este proceso de floración cuando se debe podar la planta.
The melon plant must be planted in fertile and well-drained soil to avoid stagnation of water since it requires little of it, during its flowering it is capable of bearing both male and female flowers at the same time and it is in this flowering process when the plant should be pruned.
En cuanto a la luz esta planta necesita tomar mucho sol, es una planta que requiere de una temperatura cálida para poder desarrollarse adecuadamente, a su vez necesita agua para su crecimiento, la suficiente para mantener el suelo húmedo pero no tanta para no ahogarla.
As for the light, this plant needs to take a lot of sun, it is a plant that requires a warm temperature to be able to develop properly, in turn it needs water for its growth, enough to keep the soil moist but not so much so as not to drown it.
En referencia a las plagas es una planta muy vulnerable a estas, pueden atacarla desde parásitos que se introducen en la planta hasta insectos, para evitar esto debe utilizarse un insecticida natural de tal manera que no pueda hacer daño a la planta, otra alternativa es fertilizar el suelo con abono hidrogenado alrededor de 2 a 4 veces al año antes de la temporada de lluvia.
In reference to pests, it is a very vulnerable plant to these, they can attack it from parasites that enter the plant to insects, to avoid this a natural insecticide must be used in such a way that it cannot harm the plant, another alternative is to fertilize the soil with hydrogenated compost about 2 to 4 times a year before the rainy season.
Con los cuidados adecuados y recibiendo suficiente luz del sol y agua esta planta puede tener los frutos listos en aproximadamente 90 días luego de la germinación, para su cosecha debemos asegurarnos de que el fruto está completamente listo para ser desprendido de la planta y una buena forma de saberlo es cuando el fruto comience a verse de un tono más tenue, es allí cuando habrá llegado el momento de cosechar.
En mi caso, mi planta hace apenas una semana comenzó a dar sus frutos, están muy pequeños aun y no tienen forma de melón, solo son una pequeña frutita verde, redonda y pequeña, me emociona mucho que luego de tanto tiempo ya finalmente haya llegado el momento de ver los frutos, intento cuidarla mucho para que puedan crecer y no secarse y hasta ahora creo que lo estoy haciendo bien, así que dentro de un tiempo les estaré mostrando mi cosecha y contándoles como me fue en este proceso.
With proper care and receiving enough sunlight and water, this plant can have the fruits ready in approximately 90 days after germination, for its harvest we must make sure that the fruit is completely ready to be detached from the plant and in good shape. Knowing it is when the fruit begins to look a more subdued tone, that is when the time to harvest will have arrived.
In my case, my plant just a week ago began to bear fruit, they are still very small and do not have the shape of a melon, they are only a small green, round and small fruit, I am very excited that after so long it has finally arrived When I see the fruits, I try to take good care of it so that it can grow and not dry out and so far I think I am doing well, so in a while I will be showing you my harvest and telling you how it went in this process.
