¡Preciosa fantasía autóctona: Matero Floral! // Beautiful native fantasy: Flower Pot! // [ESP - ING]

¡Que gusto saludarles, amigos!

What a pleasure to greet you, friends!

We are celebrating the first anniversary of Creative Recycling and therefore I extend my congratulations to my friend @jennyzer and I will also share my creative project, which I decided to call: Beautiful native fantasy: Flower Pot! Although initially I wanted to call it: "Indigenous Fantasy" or "Cascada de Cachipo", because the materials that stand out in its preparation were: the cachipo and the totuma. The cachipo is widely used by our indigenous people to weave baskets and kitchen utensils.

This turned out to be a creative and rewarding activity because I motivated my mother to help me, managing to distract her and this is extremely important in this time of "family gathering" motivated by the pandemic. Always trying to take advantage of waste and turn it into new products, here is the tutorial of my beautiful ornament.

Paso a paso // Step by Step

Elaboración del Matero // Elaboration of the Matero

Primer paso:

Firt Step:

Find a lid and with a hacksaw it is chopped in half (we will only use half), then we take the food out, clean it well and put it to dry.
We also look for some dry cachipos (the cachipo is the part that dries from the stem of the banana bush).

Segundo paso:

Second Step:

The cachipo is soaked to mold it more easily and we weave 4 clinejas, 3 clinejas will be used for hanging and one will go as an ornament around the lid.

Tercer paso:

Third Step:

We join the 3 clinejas at one end with wire and with the excess of that same wire we make the handle to hang. To hide or disguise the wire we glue a kind of cachipo tassel.

Cuarto paso:

Fourth Step:

Now we measure the diameter of the half cap to section it into three equal parts so it can be well centered. Next we glue the clinejas using the silicone and in the lower part we make bangs with their tips.

Quinto paso:

Fifth Step:

The flowerpot is finished decorating by gluing a small loop of cachipo on each of its three sides.

Confección de las Flores // Confection of Flowers

Primer paso:

Firt Step:

We make the mold of a petal and using egg carton we proceed to mark and cut petals that we will then line with tissue paper of the color you want the flowers, in this case I made the flowers in purple and blue colors.

Segundo paso:

Second Step:

To assemble the flower we make a cocoon and we embed a wire whose upper tip is bent to fix the flower well.

IMG_20210803_150207.jpg

Tercer paso:

Third Step:

Giving it a flower shape, harmonically we are gluing the petals to the wire with sewing thread (we place 2 petals and we give it two or more turns with the thread, we must tighten well and take care that the petals do not break).

Cuarto paso:

Fourth Step:

We cut out some leaves in green foami and use them as sepals; gluing them with silicone to the base of each flower.

Quinto paso:

Fifth Step:

We glue the oasis inside the half lid with silicone and cover it with dry twigs. Finally we proceed to tie some dry sticks to the wire of the flowers to give it height, covering the stem of the flower with green tissue paper and insert the flowers into the oasis.
