Welcome to my blog, today I want to show you a little bit of the Plaza Bolivar in Maracay, take advantage of walking around, since I had time without seeing it. I must admit that it is very well cared for in terms of vegetation and surveillance. Enough so that I felt confident to take out my cell phone and take some pictures.
It has a great variety of trees, fruit and ornamental plants, you can also see squirrels, iguanas and a diversity of birds that live there, or take a break while they continue their journey, all this diversity is protected by the caretakers of the square.
This plaza was until 2017 the largest plaza in Venezuela, with 1049.87 feet long and 347.76 feet wide. It was inaugurated on December 17, 1930 next to the Jardin Hotel (which is currently the governorship of the state of Aragua) with which it borders the southern area.
To the west, Brion Street and the Civil Hospital of Maracay, which was inaugurated 2 days after the Plaza Bolivar. (Currently it is the Dr. Efraín Abad Armas Urban Ambulatory).
To the north is Bolivar Avenue and the former Cuartel Sucre, (currently the Bolivarian Military Technical Academy).
And to the east with Bermúdez Avenue, less than a block away is the imposing Sindoni Tower. With a height of approximately 125 meters, it is a reference point for many, since it can be seen from various points of the city.
On the corner between the governor's office and the ambulatory is the TOM, the Maracay Opera House, whose remodeling process was recently completed.
As you can see it has a majestic statue of the liberator Simon Bolivar. It is 4 meters high, and you can see in it Bolivar on his horse, which is supported by his hind legs.
This square has a great sentimental value for me, apart from its historical and cultural value, I remember passing by it every afternoon coming from the high school, seeing the couples talking on the benches, the old people sunbathing and contemplating the nature. I believe that everyone from Maracay has come to walk around here at some time, to listen to the performances of traditional music in special celebrations.
As I sit down, I can remember all the families that come in December, the children laughing as they unwrap their toys: Bicycles, skates, carts and so on. The cotton candy and popcorn vendors, the gaitas playing (typical music of the December season in Venezuela), the fountains working, and the water that falls from them dancing with the colorful lights, this show seems to hypnotize the youngest children. I remember all the times our mother brought us here to play. And of course I smiled, because this square for me will always be full of love.
Here I share with you some pictures of my childhood in this square, in the background you can see the Sindoni tower under construction.
That's all, I hope you enjoyed this little piece of my city. If you have any doubts or memories that you would like to share, you can leave them in the comments that I will gladly answer, I wish you a happy Sunday.

Gracias, interesante dato. Saludos.
