Hello Hiveians
For today's new design I thought of how much I loved smoked dresses and wish I can practice one for my little sister but guess what smoking went wrong not from anything but my calculation of the fabric.
I got a piece of my old fabrics this very one I have used when I started learning garment construction, the dress made me remember old tikes and how I struggled to sew.
This very first dress was a disaster and I never wore it, instead if having it laying in wait I ripped off the seams and thought go turn it into something wearable for my sister.
I took her measurement's and did the pattern for what I desired here but I guess the extra allowance I added for both the front and back bodice wasn't enough and after smoking the dress couldn't go round her body it was shortened from the original width😂😂😂😂😂🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
The making process.
I used her bodice measurements adding 5inches allowances but now I guess that instead of that I ought to use a X3 of her measurements and that would have been preferable just like the measurements I used for gathered tops and dresses.
Now I made a complete wretch of this fabric but I have learnt.
Smoked dresses have attracted me for a while now and I will get just the right amount of fabric to try this again.
Sorry, when you said "smoked" why do you exactly call it smoked?
You left me laughing and rolling on my bed...😂😂😂😂
That the word it is called in fashion, I had to check for another word for it myself... But the way you said it made it look like the smoked term used for 'weed'
I couldn't stop laughing.
What is a smoking dress??
