Recycling an old dress to A short diy pencil skirt drape

in GEMS3 years ago

Hello Hiveians

Its the beginning of a new training section and my teacher gave me an assignment that is choking me up already.

  • I felt that I could recycle an old dress for this project but the fabric wasn't the beat choice for the project at hand

It is a simpler version of draping method for cloth design(female fashion).

I have just successfully ruined this fabric 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙊🙊🙊
Its not so bad like you think because I can still wear this.

Its like I chose the wrong fabric for this project. I need suggestion for the kind of fabric i can use for slash and spread and this drape method.

process

I made a pencil skirt pattern and from the hip line past the skirt center I made three slashes of dart to make an added fullness to the side.

Three darts were created in which I was to sew in to give me the desired skirt design.

The back block is just the normal straight cut and also I used my basic pattern to achieve that.
The basic block has only the waist hip and full length measurement

Cutting the old dress into something new was something I was excited about thinking will make better use of the dress in that manner but for now I have to wear this for me to get the go ahead comment 🙈🤗

My pencil skirt isn't bad ooo
Just that I didn't feel the effect of the drape which was the main purpose for this project.

That's the dart pleated just right there.
