Hey guys! Hope we are having a nice weekend, this morning I will be sharing with you how you can actually cut a simple waistcoat. Very simple, you can get a piece of fabric and also give it a trial.
You need just half a trouser to sew a waistcoat.

I will be taking you through the process, step by step.

MATRRIALS USED

  • fabric (check material)
  • linen
  • air stay
  • paper stay
  • thread

MEASURING PROCESS

All measurements needed for waistcoat are:

  1. Shoulder
  2. Chest
  3. Length (to the waist point)

After gotten these measurements we can now get to dot our measurements on the fabric.

Let's use this measurements for example

  • shoulder 18
  • chest 40
  • length 25

Let's get started

First thing to do is get your fabric, put the tips together then rule a straight line at the edge

After that, you measure the shoulder on the fabric, which is going to be the total shoulder divided by 2 minus 1.5 inches, you dot the line then you measure 4 inches inward from that dot.

Then from the shoulder tip, you will measure your shoulder rest, 1.5 inches downward and from that point you will measure your arm hole which is always bigger compared to that of shirt so I used 9 inches.

Then from this point, you measure your chest, the total chest divided by 4 plus 0.5 sewing allowance and 0.75 as button allowance, then u mark and replicate downward.

Then the length
You can decide to make it straight or any style of ur choice, but here after taking 3 inches at the Down tip of the front then you measure how many buttons you want to put after which you draw how you want the neck to be.

Then I cut the linen which will be at the back.

I folded the linen into 4 then I placed the front on it taking away 0.75 button allowance, added 3 inches and 2.5 inches respectively at the shoulder tips then cut out.
