Today I bring you a nice walk through the ruins of an old hydroelectric power plant located on the Quequén Salado River.
Hoy les traigo u lindo paseo por las ruinas de una vieja usina hidroeléctrica ubicada sobre el río Quequén Salado.
This old hydroelectric power plant was built with the aim of supplying power to a cement factory located very close to there and later extended the electric service to small towns near the place such as Copetonas and Oriente.
Esta vieja central hidroeléctrica se construyó con el objetivo de abastecer de energía a una cementera ubicada muy cerca de allí y posteriormente extendió el servicio eléctrico a pequeños pueblos próximos al lugar como lo son Copetonas y Oriente.
In the year 1919 after a torrential rain where many millimeters of water fell for a very short time, causing a great great flood of the river, flooding and breaking the facilities and ruining the machinery. For this reason, two turbines had to be replaced and part of the dam that was destroyed by this natural phenomenon was repaired.
En el año 1919 después de una lluvia torrencial donde cayeron muchos milímetros de agua durante muy poco tiempo, provocando una gran gran crecida del río, inundando y rompiendo las instalaciones y arruinando la maquinaria. Por esta razón se tuvieron que reemplazar dos turbinas y se volvió a reparar parte de la represa que destruida por este fenómeno de la naturaleza.
After this fact, the dam started operating again and served until the mid-1980s.
Después de este hecho la represa comenzó a funcionar nuevamente y prestó servicios hasta mediados de los años `80.
Today in the place were the ruins of a small dam very nice to know and spend a nice afternoon.
Hoy en el lugar quedaron las ruinas de una pequeña represa muy lindo para conocer y pasar una linda tarde.
