Para su fabricación se utilizan varios materiales, un 98% del volumen de los CDs está constituido de policarbonato. Éste es un tipo de plástico muy duro que se obtiene al combinar el petróleo con gas natural, ambos combustibles fósiles de gran valor.
Several materials are used to manufacture them, 98% of the volume of the CDs is made of polycarbonate. This is a very hard type of plastic that is obtained by combining oil with natural gas, both of which are valuable fossil fuels.
Se conoce por ser uno de los plásticos más resistentes, cuya degradación una vez liberado en la tierra llevaría muchísimo años. Sin embargo, se demostró que bajo las condiciones del agua del mar se descompone a gran velocidad.
It is known to be one of the most resistant plastics, whose degradation once released into the earth would take many years. However, it has been shown that under seawater conditions it decomposes very quickly.
Aunque podría parecer una buena noticia, esta descomposición daría lugar a la liberación de sustancias muy tóxicas, como el ya conocido bisfenol A. Dicho compuesto actúa como disruptor endocrino, alterando el correcto funcionamiento de las hormonas de los seres vivos que habitan en el mar y contaminando la cadena alimenticia hasta llegar al ser humano.
Although it might seem like good news, this decomposition would result in the release of highly toxic substances, such as the already known bisphenol A. This compound acts as an endocrine disruptor, altering the correct functioning of the hormones of living beings that inhabit the sea and contaminating the food chain until it reaches the human being.

Los Compact Disc (CD) y Digital Versatil Disc (DVD) están elaborados de plástico policarbonato, sumado a una capa reflectiva que puede ser de aluminio o incluso de oro, cubierta con laca y tintas. Su reciclaje utiliza tecnologías sofisticadas con la que no cuentan muchos paises, tendrían que separar estos materiales y poder así recuperarlos para que sirvan como nueva materia prima.
The Compact Disc (CD) and Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) are made of polycarbonate plastic, added to a reflective layer that can be aluminum or even gold, covered with lacquer and inks. Its recycling uses sophisticated technologies that many countries do not have, they would have to separate these materials and thus be able to recover them to serve as new raw material.

En otros países como España sí se reciclan a nivel industrial. El proceso comienza en una trituradora que rompe el policarbonato, luego se lava para destintar el plástico y extraer los restos de etiquetas y la capa metálica, se seca en un silo y finalmente se hace el reciclaje mecánico en una máquina extrusora. El policarbonato se calienta hasta adoptar forma de un hilo continuo que luego se enfría y se corta a la medida de una lenteja. Y está listo para ser utilizado nuevamente como materia prima. Se recuperan 13 gramos de policarbonato de un CD original que pesa 15 gramos, es decir alrededor de un 90 por ciento. La masa resultante, llamada granza es utilizada como materia prima por diversas industrias para fabricar lentes, carcasas de material ofimático, teléfonos, y utilidades diversas para el sector automotriz..
In other countries like Spain, they are recycled at an industrial level. The process begins in a shredder that breaks up the polycarbonate, then it is washed to deink the plastic and remove the remains of labels and the metal layer, it is dried in a silo and finally it is mechanically recycled in an extrusion machine. The polycarbonate is heated until it takes the form of a continuous thread which is then cooled and cut to the size of a lentil. And it is ready to be used again as a raw material. 13 grams of polycarbonate are recovered from an original CD weighing 15 grams, or about 90 percent. The resulting mass, called chippings, is used as raw material by various industries to manufacture lenses, office material housings, telephones, and various utilities for the automotive sector.

Paso 1
Marcar con ayuda de un marcador en el Cd una luna.
Step 1 Mark a moon with a marker on the CD.
Paso 2
Con la tijera cortar con cuidado, se debe cortar dos piezas de media luna 🌙
Step 2 With the scissors cut carefully, you should cut two pieces of crescent 🌙
Paso 3
Hacer un molde con la figura de estrella 🌟 y marcar sobre el cd con un marcador varias veces la estrella. En este caso marque 8 estrellas, ya que necesitaría 4 y pegue por ambos lados las piezas.
Step 3 Make a mold with the star figure 🌟 and mark on the cd with a marker several times the star. In this case mark 8 stars, since you would need 4 and paste on both sides the pieces.
Paso 4
Con la tijera cortar las estrellas, el corte debes hacerlo con cuidado para que queden todas las piezas iguales.

Paso 5
Con el Nylon armar cada estrella a la altura que desees en una pieza de la luna 🌙 y con silicón debes pegarlas

Paso 6
Cómo último paso se pega la otra luna 🌙 y ya el móvil estará listo.

Esta es una de las tantas opciones que tenemos para reutilizar los cds que queremos desechar, este colgante decorara una parte del taller de @pantuflasycojines, puedes utilizarlo para decorar los teepes o canopys de tus niños se verían fantásticos.
