It's a Liberating Feeling to Blog Only when You want to

in GEMS4 years ago (edited)

Up until my brother's death around June 1st , I was religiously blogging/vlogging for nearly 3 months everyday.

It felt a little forced...

to be honest on some days, but I think I still made each blog post worth reading.

Now I really just do not ...

have any set time that I have to blog. And the feeling is liberating. If my mind is mush , I just do not blog that day.

I recommend to all bloggers especially...

to the newbies that they take a second and reflect on their journey. And do not try to force things. If three days a week blogging/vlogging is something that you can efficiently manage to keep up for years...then just do three times a week blogging, If it is three tines a month that you can manage...well blog for three tines a month,

The point is to remember...

this is not a sprint but rather a long term marathon. So treat it accordingly and the longer you can stay in the game without getting burned out the more chance of success you will have !!

Cheers,
Robert Andrew

Quality over quantity. I lean towards one of the problems with the site here is so many forcing (some force 3-5 posts per day) posts out, churning them out almost in desperation. I've actually unfollowed many who do this (especially all of those actifit posts). There are a few I still follow, but they normally will at most get one vote out of me. I prefer giving out full votes which limits me to 10 a day, and rarely do I want one person getting several of those in a day (unless I wrote a post and their talking with me in the comments).

It is liberating to decide "I'm not posting today," I do that all the time. In fact, I have one post I finished collecting research on over a week ago and the links all sit in the folder waiting for me to feel like giving them cohesion and adding my speculations to them. Not sure when I may get to it. But when I do, I want my heart into it. To be a reflection of my passion on the subject.

It's normal during this time of loss for you to ponder things, ways you do things and how they may add or detract from what is meaningful to you. It's shocking when life hits us hard and we pause and look at the routines we have built up, wondering or deciding if they were adding quality to what we desire and love. I'm grateful that you are sharing your examination into your routine and how it can be tweaked to make your life attune better towards something healthier for yourself. These moments of sobriety and mind-fullness are sadly few for most of us and serves a good reminder to the rest of us lulled into our own routines.

Thanks for sharing, and keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you so much @practicalthought. If we had a contest for the most effective Commentors on the 'chain you would definitely be at the top. Your contributions via high quality Comments makes this place a better place to be :)

I'm sorry to hear about your brother, wishing you and your family all the best, we'll be here! Lol that's what happens when you blog within a community and not in some random centralised rubbish

Thank you so much @chekohler

You are perfectly right. Avoid burning out as a newbie blogging. Manage your time schedule

You are right buddy. The longer one stay in the game of blogging the nearest the success come one way if one doesn't give up.

Keep on keeping on @adeyemidrey :)

My condolences to you and your family. May his soul rest in peace.
As for posting, best to enjoy the ride.
Peace and Love.

Thank you very much, Ade

Sorry to hear about your brother. Life is too short

Great advice. I have found that four to five times a week works best for me. I know there are some people who are doing it like three times a day and I just don't see how they are going to be able to maintain that. Granted, a lot of those people are just trying to milk rewards from the system and it isn't like they are putting a ton of effort into their posts anyway...

Yep thats the best for newbies, unfortunately most new arrivals are here for only one thing. Money and fast please, so they try to make a thing ( not even a blog ) every day , and like the other commenter said quality over quantity is far fetched.

I am an addict and so i am here every single day cause i am building a library of life for me and my family, all is on the blockchain. But after what you been trough i will bet if that happened to me i wouldnt be here every day, so we understand and love the blogs that come from your hand and hart

I’m sorry you lost your brother, Rob. My sincere condolences to you and your family.

Your are right about not forcing a post. You have always had great posts and if you don’t feel up to posting as often that’s ok too, my friend.

True talk.. It's easier when you blog because you feel like it.
