The glory of any seed does not lie in saving it but in sowing it. In the same way, for something to increase, you have to invest it. This is why it has been said that the secret of multiplication lies in investment. If what you have in your hand if not big enough to qualify as a fruit, then you should not consume it but turn it into seed and sow it for it to multiply.
Any opportunity you have to give is an opportunity you have to increase. What you give today is not lost, it is like an investment you make into your future and you will reap the reward later. No good deed is ever lost, same thing with evil deeds - they are not lost, they are recycled and will come back as rewards.
To be met with a good harvest, you have to be cautious to plant only good seeds. No one plants an ant-infested seed and expect to reap a healthy harvest. Seed will always beget fruits of like manner. Kinds will always produce after kinds.
A story was told of a particular farmer that normally plants the best genetically engineered and disease-resistant seeds. As everyone would expect, he always had bountiful harvest. However, he also went extra mile to share the genetically engineered seeds to the neighbouring farmers, not minding that they are his competitors. Of course, they too had bountiful harvests as a result of the seed.
When he was asked why he is being too kind even at the supposed detriment of his business, he gave a very short explanation that wowed everyone. He just told them that he needed for his neighbours to also plant good seeds so that when bees and other insects that pollinate crops come, they will not cross-pollinate pollen grains from the bad neighbours' plants into his good plants and he will end up producing bad harvest.
You see, one would have thought that this was an absolute act of selflessness, yeah, but he also had an investment mentality too. Most times, your good deeds will go a long way to ward off bad from you. If you help your neighbour or your brethren to become rich like you, it will ease up pressures from you. As a matter of fact, if you are the only one rich among your neighbourhood for long, then you should know that you are not playing your own part well.
You have been raised with the sole reason to raise others and not to ride on others to acquire more. Believe me, the people you raise today may be the ones to raise you up tomorrow. Do not destroyed the bridge when you have gone through it, because you may need the bridge again when coming back.
